AnonD-632062, 25 Apr 2017So much issues over the OLED display. You would be forgiven... moreIt is named A11. the 10nm Fabrication is how tiny are the wires inside that chipset. (and TEN NANOMETER is really tiny.)

Not sure about the miles statement. I checked Dungdung S7 vs Xperia XZ face to face and XZ gives a way better picture.

ithehappy, 25 Apr 2017I still don't understand the necessity of going for OLED pa... moreIt's been said on GSMA countless times why OLEDs are better than LCD's:
- Thinner panels as they require 1-2 less layers under the screen
- More energy efficient because they don't require a backlight for each pixel (Emissive rather than transmissive).
- Truer colours and deeper blacks which makes for a better dynamic range and therefore better contrast.
- Panels can be made flexible, foldable, curved and shaped without effort.
LCDs are brilliant enough these days, you're right - but OLEDs are miles better.

ithehappy, 25 Apr 2017I still don't understand the necessity of going for OLED pa... moreOLED screens are much more flexible. The alledged prototype which leaked 2 days ago shows it well. Camera/ sensor lenses under the screen, earpiece embedded in the middle of it, thin edges..
It also burns less battery and enables always-on display.

So much issues over the OLED display. You would be forgiven for thinking all these screen-related delays were in pursuit of a futuristic foldable/bendable panel and not something that other OEM's have been using for years.
BTW isn't the new 10nm chipset to be called the A11, rather than A10?

AnonD-152638, 25 Apr 2017I think analysts are wrong. I don't think Apple plans to l... moreThey can't compete against s8 with just a regular update. Just search for a video putting ip7 and s8 side by side, the jet black one which was very attractive last year looks like a toy next to the s8. Looks sell, plenty of people grab a phone without reading reviews etc. And the supply issues are real because apple sells a lot more phones per model than anyone else and only samsung can supply good oled screens atm.

I think analysts are wrong.
I don't think Apple plans to launch 7s and 8/OLED/X/Anniversary, with higher end hardware.
If they do a special saphire glass, cheramic special edition of the "7s", that is one thing.
But if "7s" aren't the flagships in terms of hardware, that would really hurt the sales. They would be better or re-releasing the 7, in new colors at a cheaper price, to be a "budget" offering.
Since the SE seems to have sold ok, at least.
I think they should do a Retro edition, with the look of the first iphone but with the bigger "retina" display used in the SE.
If that is the only Anniversary thing they do, it would still let the buyers know that they payed tribute. There could probably be some deals of a 7s + SE Retro, with a subscription, as that would have cheaper hardware.
If Apple had planned to do something special, that would have been in the works for some time. If they had planned to do a "bezel-less" device, they would have placed orders a long time ago.
The anniversary edition is unlikely to be a copy of the latest trend.
So the idea that they are facing supply issues now, for a device they had long since plannes, seems unlikely.
Perhaps Apple realized they had to respond to the "bezel-less" design of their competitors. But that product would then not have been planned to launch as the anniversary iPhone, and would have probably been on target for release in 2018, to begin with. To no hurt the sales of the proper anniversary edition.

Pushing back, delay, and more delay. This iphone 8 might never see the day in 2017. It will most probably launch in November. Arrived at your hand in 2018. There go christmas plan. Was thinking of red iphone 8. Just go with IPS, Apple! Ditch that stupid oled plan. You cannot even secure enough oled for yourself! Damnit! 10th anniversary my butt. The year is ending fast.
