There is an amount h... moreIf the extra amount of RAM is not used properly then it's wasted, but it can also be used properly, developers can make apps which uses more RAM and less CPU or less RAM and more CPU. It's more about the way the resources are used, not the quantity of them, in general it's cheaper to put more RAM than a faster CPU. This "insane" amount of RAM could also open the gate to desktop OSs on phones, Windows 10 needs more than 4GB of RAM to run as it should, 8GB are welcomed.

How retarded... Give me 4GB of RAM is more then ENOUGH! and everything above 32GB of Storage is retarded! especially if there's an SD card slot! Better improve the Battery and Camera and OS! why should I overpay for stupid crap I don't need! Extra 4GB of RAM?? Crazy Storage?? WHY??

Getting any mid-range or budget smartphone with 2 GB feels outdated now. :-/ Like all those 200-400€ Samsug (2017) out there.

Well, first and foremost, absolutely well done to ZTE (nubia) for the Z17. This phone (flagship/killer) really promise a lot, and it will definitely give a pretty good run for the money to all the top dogs, such as: S8 duo, XZ Premium, G6, U11, P10 duo, Mi6 and even the upcoming OP5 and the others. With its SD835, 6GB or even 8GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, dual camera setup of 23MP + 12MP, 16MP for selfies, Nougat 7.1.1, Dolby Atmos for sound, water resistant (IP67) as well, and even Quick Charge 4.0 (that as it seems to me, is the world's first to include it). So definitely compliments to ZTE (nubia) for the Z17, and hopefully they will do the same for the Axon 8, if not even slightly better/more.

There is an amount how much RAM is really needed for a mobile phone to work flawlessly. Beyond that amount would be just a waste of money and will only increase the battery consumption.
Can anyone asking for 8GB of RAM name an app that requires more than 1GB in the foreground?

Why this all fuss about numbers? Numbers are just numbers. They aren't responsible for day to day life performance. Optimisation is the priority as apple has some great optimisation with least amount of cores and ram. In android sony has the best optimised os as xperia xzs with sd820 whitewashed s8 with sd835 in speed tests videos on YouTube.

Now Oneplus 5 is beaten on its own backyard. Nubia Z17 has stolen thunder from Oneplus in every department except battery. But neo power should come handy to enhance battery performance. Well done Nubia and ZTE!

When it comes to pay premium price for a Chinese brand xiaomi, nubia and others simply don't make the cut because they don't provide support,updates over time. They are so stubborn and think like they are Samsung and Apple. Even look at what Samsung did with new OS, lot better than TouchWiz.

Great specs on paper etc
Just not available anywhere (at least in my part of the world) & insufficient coverage of the brand to convince me to part with my cash to buy one online in the hope that it will be compatible with network providers in my area.
Nice looking device though.
