auto focus makes a difference i think.for eg,if v look @the first picture sample,if it was taken by an auto focus cam,the back ground wudn hav been blurred.i think it adds beauty to the picture.

Not as good as N8, but still pretty good quality. Would be enough for the majority of people. But again, this thinnes mania, that rose the need for full focus isn't good to me. It's simply an uncomfortable form factor for a phone.

Yes, a full-focus camera's lens is in a fixed position, but you can't simply call it "fixed-focus".

honestly whats wrong with nowadays nokia fan boy? they're always argue about something useless like the fixed focus or the outdated os, how come autofocus make no differences? ridicolous...

if fixed focus is good then all camera no need to have focus. Fixed focus will only get 'flat' like photo, you cannot see depth of field using fixed focus & this is worse for potrait shot too!
Thosse sample photo seem over process for sharpness, I don't like it.

autofocus is effective only if you want to focus a subject from 0,2 meters up to 3,4 meters maximum. up to 5 meters above,autofocus is useless. for 80% of users autofocus cameras are coplicated and useless,they only shot fail photos,especially chicks. this fix focus are the best for the big majority of users. my girlfriend is a non-talent and she made superb photos with nokia c7 wich is the same as all 8mp fixed focus cameras

EDof makes sense for normal cameras where people just shoot, and are not really bothered about features such as macro photographs. I know many acually do the walk back and take it. A lot more don't like the bokeh effect as the good photo is where everything is (sort) of clear. Hence fixed focus should be fine with most.
However when it comes to the "top end phones", the users here pay for a lot more. They would want the camera to be a match for a digital camera, so being able to decide how you focus is important. If fixed focus can be updated to achieve some level, again here it might suite any except those who really "want to haggle about it".
Things like a powerful flash, quick focus actually would be overriding for these users.
its the business, techie users that really won't like the fixed focus, and here auto focus is vital. I think this is where Nokia is killing itself, for instance the E6 is a business phone, and being able to get photos of whiteboard close up, a document and then email it is critical. Sadly this is a space is where nokia phones used to be great, E-series and this niche edge is also now going to be lost by Nokia.

Well I can see that the pictures has no bokeh what so ever!!!
Leaving every uninteresting detail no less sharp than the motive.
That is good in a set of binoculars but not in a camera, except with special motives...
BUT if that is "amazing" to you, well that's your problem.

O.k Nokia have admitted they only use Edof cameras on there current mobiles so they can make there phones thinner,but when you expected to pay more than £200 for there mobiles, auto-focus is the cameras you want on the phone you are buying,Fixed-Focus should be used on Nokias budget mobiles not its Top Class Smartphones,an all that Nokia will end up doing is getting more people to buy a alternative mobile instead of purchasing there Nokia mobile

I don't get it why is Nokia insisting so much on their rubbish fixed focus. I wanted to buy Nokia C7 and then i didn't because of the fixed focus. HTC Wildfire for example gives you option to pick a mode. You can switch it to fixed focus mode for quick snapping without the focus delay or if you want closeups, you can still use them. Unlike with most Nokia's where you just get a messy blur.
Btw, the "closeup" of those flowers is not really a closeup as it's center focused on the flower in the back where those just slightly closer to the phone are all blurry.
I'm just not going to even consider their phones for as long as they'll keep on sticking this fixed focus junk into them.
