A surprising move by Apple, which spent years ignoring the technology.

Too bad iOS 11 is shaping up to be a horrible and questionable OS update. Control Center is a cluttered mess, and the overall aesthetics makes me think the designer are colour blind 4 year olds. Not sure who the design is targeted at but it's definitely not me. Sticking to iOS 10 until a good android phone that suits my needs hits the market.

Why nobody trolling iPhone should get the Infrared port (IR blaster) instead of NFC? So the iPhone can use as a remote-controller. Maybe the IR blaster is an out-dated tech.

Nowhere is it stated that Apple "reinvented" or "invented" NFC. This is just your blind hate talking - and all it does, is to show just how stupid you sound. Seek education. you need it.

We'll have to wait 7 years to be able to write NFC tags while it's here since ICS.

Is this article about nfc tags which i used to have during early 2012 with my xperia s?

So after all those years, they finally give users possibility to read tags.... and nothing more..

I was big fan of NFC tags from the start and I still use them constantly.
Im using custom tags(written using my phone) as a quick setup of phone in home work and car. I just need to put phone eg. in phone holder in car where I put nfc sticker, and phone automatically set it up for easier usage in phone. One tag near the bed, so if i put it there is will automatically lower screen brightness, sound, set up alarm etc.

I also use NFC to assign my credit card to phone, no need for any useless google/apple/samsung pay services. all you need is your bank application to pay using phone(if your bank dont have it... its just mean that you live in really weird country or your bank is just really bad).

As for writing tags, I used it often in work where our workers use bands with NFC as keys/ID card. No need to spend money on useless devices for writing codes if you can do it using your phone.

As an iPhone 7 user, this is great to read, but it would be unfair not to support all the other iPhones with NFC like iPhone 6
