I will never get a phone with a fingerprint sensor at the back. Im still own the s7. If note 8 will fail I will consider another phone for the 1st time since s2...

Common Samsung - there has to be a way.
No on-screen fingerprint scanner will be disastrous for this device's success.
I want this phone so bad but I need a reason to get it over the S8+. A stylus and 2 cameras is not enough to supercede a smaller battery.

I'm no tech expert and have no technical knowledge about sensors but i'm also curious about how it actually works. Can't they only activate the sensor when a specific command is activated? For example, when you want to pay using android pay, a pop up will appear, and to trigger the sensor maybe it can tell us to lay our finger for a couple seconds then it start to scan. And this command can only be activated when a fingerprint authentication is needed by the app (for android pay, play store, or maybe app lock).
I don't know but i think this makes sense, and i believe samsung have figured something like this. Maybe it just can't so i hope to hear a more technical explanation from someone who know about how sensors works and explain to me why it won't work that way.

I have been waiting for this phone for so long..first the note 7 (the big bang) then s8 (disappointment) and now this.Samsung better not launch the phone at all! You seem so unsecure that i am seriously thinking of moving to a more serious company.

The Note 8 will just an a S8 Plus with a slightly bigger screen and an S Pen. Smaller battery too

I thought Apple and Samsung were working on this together as Samsung is the supplier of iPhone 8's panel. You are telling me Apple applied secret sauce and make it work but Samsung can't?

If Samsung is facing delays with its implementation of the onscreen fingerprint scanner then so is Apple for its iPhone considering where Apple gets its tech from.
