I don't know why people are so fixated on having big and crazy GPUs on their smartphone chipsets. It will just downclock anyways when you're actually gaming coz of the heat. Kirin 970 and even the helio x30 is doing it right. Snapdragon 835 and exynos8895 can't even maintain their supposed GPU clocks/performance when ur playing a game for more than 20 min. It gets downclocked to even below kirin 960 levels. from my experience, I've experienced smoother gameplay on a Kirin 960 based phone.

GPU lacks power compared to what others have to offer. Exynos 8895 in Galaxy S8 uses Mali G-71 MP20, so Kirin 970 won't get close to it. I hope Huawei will stick to Full HD, because if rumors are right it will have a hard time with higher resolution.

Huawei Kirin chipsets are very efficient & smooth, I owned a couple their devices & never lags. Would like to see Kirin 970 SoC in all Huawei flagships devices, problem is they're slow to launch in all regions & markets.

Finally...a new rumored chipset from HUAWEI that can help in their marketing. Or else it is going to be still the boring Kirin 960

Quite looking forward for the Mate10 and Kirin 970, and although they will be launched together, so one equal the other, but they will be interesting even individually. Because as a Mate 10 aesthetically, Huawei will definitely push the bar as much as they can. And as a Kirin, the 970 will absolutely give a run to the SD835 and to the Exynos 8895.

AnonD-39937, 29 Jun 2017No A75, no A55, no DynamIQ, no G72, Kirin 970 is a let down... moreThe chipset is in rumours and you have started complaining! Lol! Do you have any idea that even kirin 960 is still powerful chipset and still gives snapdragon 835 a run for its money?? I can just imagine how kirin 970 would be!

All this power - . for normal everyday and or heavy use, then even half this power is just fine.
Maybe different for those with VR or heavy gaming though. Perish the thought.

No chance against the Snapdragon and Exynos. Most likely this wont even go outside china.

I feel like after iPhone 8 and A11 chipset, the Mate 10 (Kirin 970) will be one hell of a chipset. Actually, the SD835 will not stand any chance against it.
