why are we even comparing ram ? android authority has already said that what matters is the storage that u r getting. In india samsung s8 plus is 64990 rupees for 64 gigs and for 128 gig we have to pay 6000 rupees more, that makes a price tag of 70900.but people are still buying that 128 gb variant!! so why not oneplus!

Extra RAM size without extra RAM management wizardry from software engineers is pointless except for marketing purposes.

Hey, GSMArena, compare the OnePlus 5 with the Sony Xperia XZ Premium! Then you'll see whose the king in app loading times.

                Android can't utilize 8GB
4gb is still the limit even if your phone has 32 android will use only 4 :)

Yes absolutely obvious, for "just" $60 or so more, it is definitely better to pick the 8GB/128GB version instead of the 6/64. And considering that the OnePlus (5) does not have expandable storage, so...

Some people are blind. Let say oneplus made a 8gb ram smartphone and sold it cheaper than competitions with 4gb ram. This will push competitors to release a smartphone with higher ram in the future to fight company like oneplus because oneplus basically killing all of their competitors with great hardware and pretty good software too.

Imo oneplus did a great job balancing software and hardware and sold cheaper than most flagships.

At the end of the day, its the consumer benefit the most because technology is improving when there is competition!

The main story here is 128Gb of storage vs 64Gb.

Also, on a much more minor point, the matte black is very nice, to me.

"negligible difference", I think it looks like rather big difference with 6 Gb ram reloading almost everything when coming back to the app/game more than once! Android was far better at multitasking on my old Galaxy S2 where I could have 20 or more apps open and I could hear the sound from all playing movies and music and all games... all the time playing in the background! Sure it lagged but nothing, nothing, ever closed running in the background! Android have become far worse over the years, only to remove "lag" copying Apple pausing everything in the background, not doing any real multitasking!

at least for only $60 you get double the storage and additional 2GB RAM, whereas iPhone are $100 for double the storage minus the additional ram.

Getting the number of total calls per 8hr shift:

                                      A)8hrs duty X 60min = 480min per shift
                                      B)25+10(2aux's) = 45min breaks
                                      C)A-B = 435min
D)20min apx. acw. (Based on my average us of ACW)
E)is equal to C-D = 415 min NET per shift
                                      F) 15min AHT mandatory
                                      Sol:
E/F=28 apx calls needed per 8hrs shift
Phew! XD that's a lot of calls

Android doesn't take more than 4GB RAM, so anything more than that is a wasted source of energy.

It can be better if the extra RAM will be used for specific functions like embedded DRAM on the sensor or running Windows OS.
