05 May, 2011
Sony Ericsson just announced they plan to bump up the Facebook integration on their XPERIA phones to a whole new level. Beyond the obvious single sign-on and contacts and calendar sync, Facebook...

AnonD-6193, 06 May 2011Thats scary!!! happen to have some "personal" ph... moreThat is a very good point. There are severe privacy problems with this Facebook integration. Both accidental and non-accidental.

The possibility of accidentally sharing private stuff on Facebook is one that I hope SE does not overlook and takes into careful consideration. A real concern is that these phones are operated by using imprecise capacitive touch-screens (very easy to accidentally touch the screen). I also have great concerns about a new feature on the Xperia Pro where you open the keyboard and type some text and then have the option to SMS, email, Facebook or web search - the share on Facebook option is worryingly close to the other options. Imaging trying to search for info an embarrassing medical condition on Google and then ending up with having that shared on Facebook?!

          1. SE has learned hardway and have developed the new way to customize android. they claim the faster updates (and they _are_ pretty honest..look how honestly they said their network was hacked)
          2. These features can be turned on and off. So if someone asks "why did they do so?" well.. the answer is "they can so!"
          3. who cares about the double core if single core works so fast (check out the arc and neo for proof) and yes.. double core.. more the battery drain.

Aaron, 06 May 2011I think Sony Ericsson make the best-designed Android phones... moreNice one there bro, what u said is d gospel truth. Samsung, lg and perhaps nokia have alot to learn from SE in terms of designin nd innovation... I think d facebook stuff should have an option for it to b disabled, for the sake of data cost

At least with SE there opening up the bootloader unlike HTC and Samsung which they've decided to start locking down the bootloader. I'd rather deal with FB than the lagging and annoying timescape which is a POS in my humble opinion.

Having a phone purely orientated around a third party social network application is signs of desperation. Do people really want mobile phones that make social networking the primary focus?? I can under having a as additional function, but the primary function??

I think Sony Ericsson make the best-designed Android phones compared to the unoriginal designs of Samsung and the boring designs of LG and the tasteless and uninspiring designs of HTC. What Sony Ericsson is missing out though is the innovative hardware specs, i.e. screen, flash storage, dual-core CPU, etc.

There should be option also to turn this off.... as data charges r nt free always n they r very costly when used on 3G
