Not very surprising at all with a phone that has stutter and jank from day one out of the box, even with a SnapDragon 835, unbelievably, irregardless of being very pretty.

Its normal, everyone bought the s7 nd were not due for upgrade yet. Android fans didnt buy the s6 because no sd card so when the s7 came put we got it, i got the s7 edge because the note 7 was recalled. So now i will buy the s9 when it comes out.

No other 2017 flagship phone have made any significant changes to their previous ones. But one thing for sure thats a huge difference is the tall, bezeless design from the S7 to the S8, and design itself will catch peoples attention.

Yeah, you know it's the gadget blog business when shit like this makes it into a story.
Same thing every year when Apple realises their launch will be underwhelming, out with the fake news. Donald Trump's guiding star into internet trolling. Had we not had Apple we would not have had Trump as a President. That is the only fact on this particular write-up page.

then Samsung may as well release the J7(2017), no need to uphold it anymore - the reason is gone.

AnonD-683883, 11 Jul 2017S5 Owner - I'm ready to upgrade, and I really want to stick... moreThe deat h of the removable battery turned phones I to consumables. I'm of those that don't want to violate the structural integrity of my phone partly because I keep them for 4 years.

Not only do I find it awkward to change a phone all the time (having to learn new positions of buttons, screen sizes), new phones are often are often as you have to reoptimize them to your uses.

So my phones in general work better after a year or two, as I have gotten a hang of them use the exact apps that maximize their usability/usefulness, even cchange ROM and by the time that the ccompany has stopped supporting it.

Point is that modern phones age well when you keep an eye on them...

With the removal of the removable battery that is no more ... Because "Samsung said so" (and of course everybody else followed.

After two years the battery life of a phone is IMO unacceptable and needs a new one, but you can't do that w/t violating the phone's integrity.

My last Samsung was/is Note 4 , thankfully it aged well so I won't need another phone for another year, but really I have no reason to return to Samsung anymore...

Why won't sales slow down ?? People r getting smart and realising that samsungs new generation flagships are microcircuits & some other components housed in shiny eggshells.
Every smartphone shop iv gone, they wr literally begging me & others to consider the s8.
My Galaxy note 5 screen last week suddenly became unresponsive and started turning purple until it totally blacked out.
Now Samsung is charging me $200 + for new screen despite warranty.
If ur planning to buy the S8, just make sure the phone never drops unprotected, even on the carpet, bcos the front or back screen will crack and Samsung will use that against u in the future by claiming that physical damage of their eggshell has voided the warranty.

Honestly, S7 and Edge had a lot going for it, when it was launched, compared to S6. The special point being the f/1.7 lens, the brightest in a mobile. The performance was also a significant boost.

S8 and S8+ have some novelties, and special features, but the public doesn't know about them, like the PC mode, the previous moment shutter, etc... Bixby didn't become a sought after feature, neither did the tall display. Not too much of power increase either.
Combine this with the high price, and people ask, why not S7 itself for few grands less?

And let me be honest, I know S8 is superior, but at the time of writing this comment, I can't list all those features in which, S8 is clearly better than S7. I just don't remember.
