S is smaller spring flagship, Note is larger fall flagship.
G is smaller spring flagship, V is larger fall flagship.
The G6 just has last year SoC because Samsung occupied every single SD835 at that time, but the much lower price which is equal to other 2016 flagships makes up for that.

LG G6 is not a flagship device. The G-series has been relegated to the upper midrange. The V-series has taken its place as LG's flagship line of devices.
