      I want a good fast phone with great battery life (something that kirin cpu / huawei phone cant offer) and good GPU (something that kirin cpu / huawei cant offer), and good/fast LTE modem that use little battery (something that kirin cpu / huawei cant offer)

        If you have access to both device that have the same chipset, try it. Play same game on both asus with 5000mah & sony with those 'advance' tech. The sony tech only good for standby. It prolonged the standby. But for hardcore user. Sony new batteey tech is useless...

Apart from that nothing is same in both these OS. Nova Launcher just changes the home screen layout and the animations. It doesn't undo the modifications that these companies do.
            An average user just wants his phone to run smooth and Xiaomi serves this purpose most of the times. I'm not a huge fan of Xiaomi but this is what I think. Even MIUI has some bugs but I hope MIUI 9 will fix them.

Xperia z, still use by my daughter till ... moreThe reason why they added smaller batteries on newer phones its because of the brand new QNOVO BATTERY CARE technology introduced in XPERIA X which can help the battery life 2 times more than normal. Their midrange phones are a joke sometimes when they use MEDIATEK because u know, it have bad battery life. But some performed pretty good like the XPERIA XA1 and XPERIA XA1 ULTRA

                    2. Kirin 6xx family is not good. The SD 625 is lots better.
                    2a. SD 625 GPU beat all the GPU in kirin 6xx family line. The kirin 6xx GPU is only comparable to SD 410 series...
                    2b. The battery... SD 625 have better battery optimization. Look at GSM arena battery stat. Kirin 6xx is not really hood at battery management
                    2c. LTE speed... SD 625 is better than kirin 6xx
                    2d. Support. Huawei keep the support of kirin to themself. No thinkering, no custom os.
                    3. The sd 82x/83x is better than kirin 95x/96x
                    3a. LTE speed is better in SD chip
                    3b. GPU is better in SD by big margin
                    3c. Battery optimazion
                    3d. And... Support.... Huawei is very bad at giving the custom OS info to support their cpu

                      If i install nova launcher, asus phone will feel 99.9% true android, but the xiaomi feel like notvreal android because xiaomi notification and setting were iphone UI.

                      Furthermore, its true for the same cpu spec asus is more expensive than xiaomi. But asus device have better cameta, better speaker, and better build quality.

                      In the end, its depend on you. If you low on the buget, or dont think camera/speaker quality is important, than, xiaomi is for you.

                        Kirin 960 is better than sd821. And their next gen chips, which will be based on 10nm, will be better than th sd835. In some chips, their GPUs are not as good as the ones in the sd though.

And Asus just uses android version to boost the sales of phones with poor specs. Let's take an example of Zenfone 3s max. It had android nougat pre installed. Except that it had nothing for the price tag it carried.
                          And for the software updates, xiaomi is a bit late in updating their phones but their entire range is updated with the latest UI that comes with all the features of the latest android version plus xiaomi's own features too.
                          To know the performance difference try the phones having similar price of these two brands.

But asus have the best speaker i ever see. Their 5 magnet speaker is very loud. They also have the right ram/storage compared to sony that dragging their feet in ram/storage department. But, more importantly for me is... Asus do mot shy to put 5000mah battery in their products

                              1. Xperia z, still use by my daughter till now. Its the best phone in its era. The battery stamina were great (in that time).
                              2. Xperia z3, sudden death. And sony repair center ask me a ridiculous amount of money, that make me feel its not worthed.
                              3. Xperia z5, still work.

                              The problem with sony in 2016/2017 is... Sony refuse to upgrade the battery size. They still using around 3000mah, and say thats enough. I wish sony follow the trend to use 5000mah.

                              Second... I want 6"+ phone. Sony 6" phone use a mediatek joke. I want 6" phone with a good Snapdragon cpu.

                                  2. Asus software update is faster than samsung, lg, sony, etc. Zenfone 3 family already on nougat since feb/march
                                  3. Asus camera is superior compared to xiaomi by lots of margin. Zenfone 3 family (zenfone 3, zenfome 3 deluxe, zenfone 3 ultra, zenfone 3 zoom) camera quality as good as lg g4/lg g5/xperia z5

I mean Sony can do better in sales than ASUS for smartphone marketing. Well I am actually using XPERIA XZ. This is not my first Sony phone so I have some conclusions I can make. They have excellent frequent software updates. Their software is light and fast. Even though they got "huge" bezels on their phone it is because of the dual front facing speakers which make it look nice. The speakers aren't that loud as GALAXY S8 but it is very clear if your room have moderate sound level. The camera takes good shots during daylight but Manual Mode is needed for low light shots because of the noise produced. Battery life is based on how u use the phone. I used my phone moderately and still get almost a day of use (7am - 8pm left with 20%).
