Good. This thing was atrocious. They could make a decent new one if the market is still there. Remove all the camera bullcrap, give it the apple watch chip, 5 inch screen, dual speaker, usb C, 64GB, however much RAM they deem appropriate for the entry one at 200/250 and call it a day. But this would require a new design and Timmie loves to recycle so its not gonna happen for a niche product like this.

Anonymous, 27 Jul 2017my only experience with an iPod was about a year or two ago... moreyes, all ipods have quite poor sound quality unless you use a decent dac /amp such as chord mojo, ect.

no where near audiophile grade digital audio players, but there again there were never marketed as high quality audio players in the first place, more emphasis on fashion, easy to use and sleek ui

Hmm. Let's not forget that the iPod was the precursor and the inspiration behind the iPhone and without the iPod's success, Apple wouldn't have been emboldened to do what it did and be where it is today.

Only had ipod touch 4 and. 5gen . I gave my 4gen away ,regret it today not because it is good or something but the value later being an apple product. Keeping my 5gen tho. I dont use it anymore because i get better options with my phones and more gb with sd card.if apple think they are unique because of the amount updated to their devices ,well my 5gen is not faster when updated but slower,i stopped updating and using it 2years ago. All products i had from apple like ipod ,ipad, mackbook pro retina were just what it is,bluff.

The best nano was the 5th generation. I'll never give mine up.

P.S. i will the first person investing in a very good pair of HD audio headphones, given the iPhone supports HD audio (FLAC/WAV/ALAC etc) through Apple Music out of the box. Is there any such opportunity now or in near future?

Is it that the Apple Music catalogue (flac/wav etc) is not there yet? Or is it the hardware limitations of the iPhone (current or future).

Could apple be the next company who move into the audiophile grade digital audio player? With its alac and apple music, sounds like success, but it probably won't sound as good as current leaders in audiophile grade digital audio player (reasonable priced category) such such as Sony nw-zx100, astell & Kern Jr, only dp-x1a/pioneer xdp-r300, ibasso dx100, etc

Guess moving the iPod into the DAP market is too niche even for apple

It would be a rather sad day when the iPod touch is retired.

my only experience with an iPod was about a year or two ago when i went to an electronics retailer and tried an iPod Touch with some Beats headphones connected to it. pretty expensive package. first thing i found was the player's UI to be very unintuitive, then i heard the terrible sound output. perhaps there were some settings that i just couldn't find, but the way it was presented there it sounded much worse than my old customized Sansa Fuze with a pair of equally old $30 in-ears from AKG
