Note: AT&T patented (as did Apple later using different technology) a way to use pixels as light sensors, so the camera is built into the screen, a la TeleScreen in George O's 1984.
I can see you!
And you cannot do anything about it, try putting your finger over the whole screen.
Mwa ha ha!

But look at all these people that failed to read the article properly... LOL

Patent approved back in may 2016 well before the other phones designs were made public. But were the other designs granted patents at all and if they were when were they approved? Most companies file for patents well before releasing anything to the public.

Funny thing is, they got transparent screens already, yet they rather cut out than give full, not ''mickeymoused'' screen?

This patent was filed in South Korea on May 2016 – well before the designs of the other two became public.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2017people over 15 dont take selfies, scrap the camera Perhaps true, but I do use video chat in my line of work, and I'm 40+. A small pop-out camera (akin to an S-pen) with about the same resolution as the screen would do just fine for me though. Just push it in when not in use.

Oh... my bad. I read bezel-less design WITHOUT a cutout. That had been much more interesting. These "ears" looks like they're going to be the smartphone equivalent of flat-tire smartwatch screens.

I really don't like the “display cutout” look. For me it seems like a hole at the top of the screen. That's it.
