For DISPLAY it almost can't get big enough.
For TOUCH it easily gets too big, already on current devices AND touch at the edges easily gives accidental interaction...
At the very least let the user select some dead-zones or virtual bezels, that does NOT react to touch, to make the edge to edge devices easier to hold.
BUT: What we really need is a rethink of the current smartphone OSs UI, to have only a limited part of the display active for interaction. AND the area should be user-selectable, depending on hand-size, or if the user want to always use it by two hands.
For older apps, these could simply be displayed shrunken in PiP in a user selectable windows matching the thumb in use. But it would require a completely new set of dynamic API-guidelines for new apps if the interactive part depends on the hand-size. So not super easy!!
No matter what, SOME interactions are bound to require two hands - we already need two hands for pinching. But if the MAJORITY of the daily operation could be done one-handed keeping a secure grib it would be great.

yeees. we are near to launch this so ugly phone. And what a shame for Apple About this phone.

The design language we are headed to could be a rude awakening for most people once they realize too many accidental touches, fragility, weird aspect ratios, and needing to have extra long fingers to pull down a notification shade. People are bashing Sony for huge bezels. Maybe they are right all along.
Not good. Note8, Essential, iPhone X, Mi Mix, Mate 10, all could be just awkward to hold and a waste of money like the curved displays are. Just look where your hand touches the phone when holding it. Near edge to edge is going to mess up how you type, play games, take a photo big time. You would need to relearn how to hold these new designs and it will be inconvenient.
Nokia 8 is my clear #1. Then maybe V30 but I don't like glass rears.

I'm not an iPhone guy, but I feel like the home button on iPhone is a hallmark on their phones, and I can't imagine an iPhone without the home button :(

If there is the most ugly phone award in 2017 then iPhone x or 8 will be the top contender up front. It win by wide margin in unanimous decisions no doubt.

Screen looks better If it's... moreNO they are huge because Samsung is using edge bezels so that's why they are fragile, but what about the LG G6 and the LG V30, they have thin bezels and are flat phones and this iCrap calling himself bezel less is no bezel less, instead, he is a complete shame and they talk about Sony. $1000+ for a phone !! yikes!! toooo much !! I like Apple, was thinking about switching, but not now....sticking with Android unfortunately.

It won't break after first drop, galaxy S8 is most fragile phone in the market, also there's those mistake touches when your fingers always touching screen.
