Apple iPhone X display: how big is it, really?

14 September 2017
Does it have more surface area than the iPhone 8 Plus screen or less?

Rafe Firmani, 15 Sep 2017You must either drunk or have iPhone X clone... Massive be... moreThe bezels are massive.. like 3-4mm on each side.. the phone is chin-less, not bezel-less...

Look at where the active display actually starts and the edge of the phone... there's even a border around the screen before the hardware bezels...

Of course all those companies are making fun of us. Giving us bigger screens but cover less.

The reason why I didn't get the Galaxy S8 is because of the narrow, long screen. Too weird for me. Even the S7 Edge which I use, is too narrow, compared to the iPhone 7 Plus, which has a better ratio. Since the S7 Edge has become laggy crash-prone since the last major OS update, I am ready to replace it with something.

The iPhone X checks all the boxes, but I am waiting for the new large Pixel, because Project Fi looks so appealing. I'll wait and see what Pixel's camera is like compared to the iPhone X, and if they'll keep the fingerprint scanner on the back, which is probably a deal-breaker for me.

I don't like bezel less phones with narrow aspect ratios. I would even prefer a 6s Plus over the S8 or G6 just to have the wider screen with better 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen seems bigger when it's wider and typing is also much easier.

Rdmkr, 14 Sep 2017Even if all of the screen from top to bottom were covered, ... moremath? lol
(1125x2436 = total) and 1125x2000 would be 16:9 so the rest is left out in 16:9 media mr.math
which would be x436 and that means roughly a 18 percent of vertical screen out of media
so 5.8x.82=4.756 so you get a 4.75" phone in media which hardly any bigger than iphone 8
don't talk big, learn math and AR then come here open aloud.

The bezel is massive on the iPhone X. In fact it doesn't look any different from the iPhone 8 or 7 or 6 or 5, maybe even 4. I just looked at my friends s8 plus and it looks ten times slicker. Much nicer screen. I was thinking about a note 8 but not for the stupid price they are asking! half that and I have the s8 Plus with a bigger battery and just as good horsepower. Apple has all screen, but seeing as you have a massive bezel going all the way around its no where near full screen. smoke and mirrors from apple as usual.

[deleted post]my friend yes and no , some thing you don't mention it , simply call "area" in math.
*** which show square has most area in rectangle at same inches of " Diameter " ***
the min is a 4.5 inch Line only 1 pixel in horizontal and rest is on vertical
so 16x9 5.5 inch phone give us more Area than 18x9 where 1:1 has max

                                  * size of screen based on their Diameter

It's time to define display size with square inch or square cm, because manufacturers are making us fool with narrower displays. The more narrow but longer the rectangle, the more longer the hypotenuse, It doesn't mean the area is larger. so we want to know that how much is the area of a display. say, LG V30 has 6.82*13.63= 92.96 square cm while Lumia 1520 has 7.47*13.28= 99.20 square cm display area. both devices are said to have 6" display but LG V30 has 6.24 square cm less display are compared to a 16:9 6" display. so let's not be cheated.
