Note7/8, Galaxy S8, LG V30 and now also on iPhone X all have HDR displays. Second, Sony got 4K video alright, but it's in 30FPS while the new iPhones will shoot in 60FPS! I would say a big difference here. Also you mention 960FPS slow-mo.. great but it's in 720P! pretty useless. Latest iPhones will shoot 240FPS in 1080P. "3D-touch is a gimmick" - obviously you never used it and never experienced taptic engine on the newer iPhones. You can't never go back to the "regular" vibration on other phones. Like it or not, Apples A11 chips just blowed everything else in the market. Guess which comes second? sony? no ... A10 is the second best, which powers the iPhone 7 line so Xperia ZX is far very far from being the fastest ...

what fastest you're telling me about?
and plus... i bought my XZ Premium... as brand new for around $400 unlocked... which you would ever dream to have an iphone with that price!

With every new iPhone I recognize how important Steve was for Apple. What is wrong with apple ? An innovative company is now walking behind other brands ? Useless wireless charging, useless face unlock and many other useless features of android phones are now the main features of the new iPhone X ?! hmm, seems my iPhone 7 will be my last apple phone.

Goo... moreProven yes, proven to have massive bezells, an obscellescent tiy screen to phone ratio, lifeless, to mess up the phone with many updates, lag on the home button, and be years behind most Android features waiting to produce some kind of inhouse quirk version to baffle people as to them inventing it.

Setting aside the iPhone X for a moment (the phone I don't think any iOS fan was actually asking for), the 8 is a poor and expensive upgrade option. Think of it, someone who owns a 6S 128gb and paid for it outright, will now have to face the fact they they will be asked the same price for half the storage on their new iPhone 8. Or they can pay an extra £150 for the next storage option up.
For that they get only one tangible extra feature....wireless charging! (In the Plus range, buyers can at least console themselves with the fact that they'll be getting the dual camera system).
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus users have absolutely no reason to upgrade whatsoever.
I'm sorry, like I said I've defended Apple in the past (bought and used many of their products to), but this years iPhone line up is infuriating!
Yes they are good devices in themselves, but they are massively overpriced, no question about it.

I'm one of the few who actually liked the 8 and 8 Plus. Good devices, I can see why people want to buy them. The design is really played by now (they actually milked this for 4 years, unreal) but saying it's reliable and proven is an understatement. We're getting AR, wireless & fast charging, louder speakers, and a True Tone display. For 7/7 Plus owners there's no need to upgrade at all but this is a nice little upgrade to the line in my opinion. People who don't want to spend a thousand bucks on the X can easily go for a 64GB 8 Plus and be really satisfied.
