Alleged Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 renders show dual camera setup and a near bezel-less design

30 September 2017
The 5.5-icnh, metal unibody handset is expected to stick to the overall Redmi Note formula and push the value envelope even further with a second camera.

Im just saying there is no neccessity to increase battery capacity with more efficient chipsets. Thats all. Shrinking the battery just enough with acceptable limit like 3000mah or keeping it the same capacity every year with improving chipset is also doing no harm. If the battery already 5000mah, then what do you expect the capacity in rhe follwing year? Increasing again even with better chipset? So, by your logic 5000mah(SD835), 6000mah(SD845), 7000mah(SD860), 8000mah(SD865),....10,000mah(SD900)? Is that how you imagine it? Answer that.

Luxor, 24 Oct 2017That is very specifically chosen answer to benefit your log... moreAfter first saying "If only used a better chipset like SD835 it would be better", now you take back your words and say "SD835 not going to give better endurance rating with smaller battery".

Duh, that's what I said in the first place.....

And that's exactly what you had refuted by saying this is in your first comment "Power efficient chipsets don't need larger battery. Instead, manufacturer can shrink their battery capacity and saving a lot of resources but still have the same endurance rating as its predecessor." ......

Having efficient chipsets is important and with the reduction in architecture and increasing optimisation, chipsets are getting more and more battery freindly. However, that is not an excuse to cut down on absolute battery capacity like what you had said. If anything, with improving technology, manufacturers should be able to fit bigger batteries, power-efficient chipsets and give us more days of battery life (It has already been done on normal 8-9mm thick phones with 5000+ mAh batteries)

Now, you are asking me to prove it on brand other than Xiaomi. Isn't this article about Xiami? Isn't that why the discussion started with Xiaomi's ridiculous downgrade of batteries (that resulted in the abysmal endurance of the Mi Mix 2)? So don't try to switch bait and move to another manufacturer's to distract from the point.......

As I have said in the first sentence of this comment, you have already contradicted yourself too many times to deflect the blame......

          End of discussion, I hope.....

Ok, you proved it on Xiaomi Mi Mix series. Can you prove it on other brand? I see such a big difference from LG V20 and V30. Although, V30 with 3300mah increase only 100mah from V20 3200mah, but we can see a jump from 68hr to 87hr. That is a big different SD835 can make if optimized properly. I doubt Xiaomi optimized their battery enough. Even Galaxy S8 with SD835 and only 3000mah battery have endurance of 84hr.

Instead, manufacturer can shrink their battery capacity and saving a lot of resources but still have the same endurance rating as its predecessor."

Then when I gave the example of the Moto Z2's endurance loss due to it's lower capacity, you said if only the SD835 processor was involved. Well the endurance ratings of the original subject (the Mi Mix 2 with SD835) is out.

Mi Mix 2 with 3400 mAh battery (lesser capacity battery) and SD 835 (more power-efficient processor) gets a SORRY 65 hours endurance.

The original Mi Mix with 4400 mAh (more capacity) and SD 821 (less efficient processor) gets an amazing 97 hours endurance.

Well the endurance ratings (which you said was much important to you over SoT times) are out.

Mi Mix 2 with 3400 mAh battery (lesser capacity battery) and SD 835 (more power-efficient processor) gets a SORRY 65 hours endurance.

Merwyn Fernandes, 30 Sep 2017If your whole idea of battery life is dependent on SOT then... moreAlright, since you were replied to my comment comparing the Mi Mix 2 and the original Mi Mix, we will wait for the endurance ratings to be published. Let's see which one is higher...

After all in your own words:
                  1) "The Actual Indicator of battery efficiency or Battery Life is the Endurance Time"
                  2) "As processors are getting more and more power efficient the need for larger battery is not important anymore the same level of battery life can be obtained with a lesser capacity battery"

So let's wait for the Mi Mix 2 review.....

                    Hmmm.....

Ok, so going by your logic, the Mi Mix 2 with SD835 must have a better endurance than the SD 821 toting original Mi Mix. After all, you did say the following:

"Power efficient chipsets dont need larger battery. Instead, manufacturer can shrink their battery capacity and saving a lot of resources but still have the same endurance rating as its predecessor."

Accd to a little research of my own, SD 660 is the 4th fastest Snapdragon chipset, after 835, 821 and 820.
