Yes. My Nikon s9100 with 18X optical zoom can fit easily into my pocket.
Mobile phones are not killing compact cameras because new cameras offer new features that phones do not have:
      Such as:
Long zooms in a slim compact shape.
      Optical image stabalizers.
      Proper flashs
      Fast response times.

A few years ago compact cameras were in trouble, when phones developed better screens. Now cameras are catching up.

Having a powerful flash on a phone will soon drain your battery. with a camera you only switch it on when you want to use it. A phone needs to be on all the time.

The phones that are dead are the single focal length cheapos.

Not a good comparison, you should have picked a dslr with the same megapixels as the phones.

"Mobile phones are really taking some of the digicam's bread and butter. The only ones that still stand their grounds are the professional DSLRs, or are they? Now you can verify that for yourselves. And yes, you will be surprised. Knock yourselves out!"

If people buy DSLR to use as a point-shoot camera, maybe mobile phones can get 25% close to them.

I want to thank all of you guys. I read a lot of tech-news in different sites. In the smartphone field, only you, gsmarena, provide this kind of informations. I've seen photo compare tools like yours only at dpreview.com where dsrl cameras are reviewed!
I like your way of providing infos: you avoid copying and pasting bunch of news like someone else while you'd rather create news with your scientific and interesting work. Please continue in this way.

Ps: i'd love a better and deeper interpretation and explanation of numbers in smartphone's audio tests,i.e. how to benefit from these data (for instance how much "1dB less of noise level" would effect the audio in my ears? or am I able to notice the difference between "+0.05, -0.34" and "+0.04, -0.09" in frequency response? or what happens with headphones attached?...and so on...). I stress the fact that I'm an engineer so I kwow what 1dB means but I don't know the final effects in my ears. You have to write more about audio data interpretation even though, like a scientist, you prefer let the numbers speak instead of you...Thank you for reading me and my bad italian english. ;)
