I have been using a 4K monitor with Windows XP for a new years now. I have never had any issues. It is runnign at 30Hz, but I don't notice anything. The graphics card was a cheap $30 card! I was able to watch many of the 4K videos on YouTube.

On Windows 10, I can do 4K gaming. Some network games run at 15FPS, but I don't notice any issues. In fact, I have an advantage over others players, because, I can see the enemy in the distance in more details. In HD mode, the frame rates are higher but it is a trade off, as I get more details , but lower frame rates. (My Win 10 PC does not even have a graphics card, it is using the onboard graphics card).

On my PC, I can do lots of thing at the same time, have lots of Windows open etc...

You don't need demanding equipment to run 4K... (although on Win 7, 4K ran slowed then on my Windows XP box!)

I don't understand why the huge resistance to 4K. I have been using it with my PC and I will never go back to anything less. It is a bit of struggle trying to convince people.

It is like the days people carrying two devices. They would carry a phone and also an MP3 player. Yet I was using a smartphone, which did both of things, even before Apple released their iPhone.

If feels like the same again. 4K IS BRILLIANT!!!!

People rushed out to buy 3D TV, which were rubbished, but 4K is brilliant!

I am surprised by the slow take up of 4K.

            4K is simply amazing!

People are still using HD monitors, yet people's smart phone have more pixels.

Desktop PC and laptops are lagging behind, smartphones. I am still a touchscreen 4K monitor to come out (which you can use with a stylus, similar to the Surface Studio).

For 2017, less than 720p = I think it doesn't exist anymore. 720p = old. 1080p = OK. 4K = just if you use your TV as a monitor (like me). 4K+ = useless for home TV.

1440p itself not main stream yet not affordable for masses, these display standards keep increasing every year movie makers already capturing pictures @5k and above tv units 1080p is just became mainstream and HD ready (720p) still vastly available in the market. 4k displays are still available at reasonable prices thanks to the chinese but how many 4k ready streams are available through DTH?

Let the GPU manufacturers do the pause and release the technology every year to make their gpu business at steady flow rate so that they can keep up their money flow going. mobile business is what everyone going to concentrate because its not going away anytime soon until nano embedded chips completely mass produced replacing the mobile tech.

First release a GPU to run and handle 4k at 60 or more FPS then release a 10k capable monitor/TV......

My Nvidia GTX 1080TI 12GB GPU just about gets 60-100 fps when gaming in 4K. Should I attempt 10k I'll need 4X GTX 1080 TI's lol.

Of course, you won't get 10-bit HDR or OLED panels. Plus, unless you have perfect eye sight and sits a couple of meters in front of the TV then you won't the full experience.
