I quite like the touch'n'type style phones. However nokia's recent couple of attempts seemed to miss the mark a bit.
If they can combine these specs with a decent capacitive screen, good quality camera, wifi, gps and keep it all at a nice cheap price then it should be a great phone.

Hey all there is no sch a processor n an cheap s40 phone
jst look at its shape
does it look lyk to have 1 GHZ processor with 512 RAM?
The real fast process xperience have alwayz gvn by Samsung android phones
all the nokia ranging in an specific Os are same the dfrnce z jst with their display and camera result
is thz all abt a phone?
I hv used from 5233 to N97 ranging in Os 9.4(touch screens) and also thos phones ranging in Os 9.3 all have da same procesing web browsing,ear phone sound expect camera and display

I can understand that S40 will get some upgrades and that a 1GHz feature phone with touchscreen would be nice (not all people want/ know to use smartphones) but this is just stupid ... I mean what real use will this have ? 720p or 1080p videos recording/playing on an phone with 2.4" screen ? Better internet experience on small screen with small resolution (240x320) ... same for games ...
And these new names are just stupid...

No, Nokia knows how to make a good phone. Just because a phone is running Android doesn't make it a "good phone". It just means its running Android. Android is far from the perfection that Android fanboys claim it is. Android fanboys are the worst on here... always belittling anyone using anything that is NOT an Android device. Sorry but the world does not revolve around Android.

I've known many people that complain about their laggy Android phones with apps crashing and force closing all the time. Never experienced that on any iOS device I've owned. And my Nokia N8, while running on slower hardware, lags far far less than the Galaxy S I had. It was by far the worst phone experience, given my expectations of the device. You can sit there and insult me acting as if the phone somehow "committed suicide" but its nothing more than Fandroid propaganda with no substance to back it up. Android is a resource hog... no wonder all Android phones have HORRIBLE battery life!!! Symbian is a lighter OS that gives you much longer battery life on whatever phone its running on. Had a Sony Ericsson Vivaz running s60 and it too had great battery life. All Android phones need recharging before most of the day is out - with very little heavy usage.

MeeGo, AF, 3.2" screen and a front cam. LEAVE EVERYTHING ELSE AS IS. Call it C4-00 and I'll tell ya what Nokia that will get my money even in that form factor. Problem is right now I know no one in Espoo will have the balls to do that and kill S40 off (or kill the C3-01 for that matter). If Qt can work on Meego as well then why the hell not?
