Nokia's WP7 will sell like pancakes whatever the critics and specs-crazy are saying. Many people want a phone that has all the necessities available as stock features and Nokia's Symbian has features that later OSes later caught on and added as upgrades or as third party apps. Also, Nokia's design innovations have the appeal that other competitors lack. With Microsoft I'm excited to see how they merge these into WP7. But for me, there's no doubt Nokia will make WP7 the new, cool phone as iOS and Android outdo each other in maintaining their fans who are starting to get bored.

What drugs are you on?. That is so not the case. Whilst Nokia will remain a dominant player considering their other non smartphone market penetration they're not going to make some big comeback.
HTC & Samsung will continue to dominate the smartphone market, albeit that they seriously need to sort the battery life out.

Just because Nokia's CEO states that he will resist the temptation to customize WP7 doesn't mean the whole board won't try to convince him otherwise. And the way you put WP7 against Android and iOS sounds purely like a fanboy being defensive. Underdogs throughout history have been known to topple corporate giants and WP7 is no different.

Any phone that is also available in Flashy Platic Pink and Vommit Lime Green is a no no for me. It's shows no class and gives the whole model line a feel of pop bubblegum sensation teenage japanese girl feeling.

There's a lot of speculation and misinformation on here about WP7. It's a good mobile OS. Just use it once and you'll definitely appreciate the UI. For those who think it's too boring/stupid/unneeded . . . the same was said about Android when Google first released it. Same with the iPhone. If we all listened to the critics back then, there would be no Android fanbase or iPhone slaves. Before criticizing something, just try it out. Ignorance hinders innovation.

The world definitely needs more waterproof phones! It does not need WP7 at all though. But since Microsoft has enough cash to stay in the mobile OS game while all its OEM suffer with poor device sales, I guess we will just have to put up with it.
ANY waterproof phone is a welcome edition though. But I gotta say I think I'm liking the NEC MEDIAS N-06C a little better even if the specs aren't quite as good as this one simply because it's Android and UMTS/HSPA

Nokia just pulled out of Japan entirely, they aren't going to be making a triumphant return there anytime soon. Also, Nokia has stated publicly they are not going to customize ANYTHING on WP7. It will be straight stock WP7 just like everyone else, and just like everyone they will sell very few devices.
Microsoft is not keeping pace with the rapid development cycle of Android and is not ever going to be as popular as iOS. They are trying to have the best of both worlds and are thus failing at both. They can't compete with Android because OEM's cant differentiate their products enough and the OS is not in any way customizable. They can't compete with iOS because Microsoft has never and will never have a rabid cult following in Mobile or the brand cache that Apple has. When WP7 is losing market share held by Windows Mobile after nearly 10 months in the market there is a serious problem.

I would think that would just alienate the likes of Samsung, HTC and others. While Nokia phones might sell that might just make the other manufacturers drop WP7 and focus efforts on Android which is a platform where they are allowed to customize to their liking to define themselves in a crowded market. I'm no business analyst but I don't see how Nokia could make W97 dominant with that strategy. They need more manufacturers on board. It's not like Android is sitting down and halting their efforts to innovate and improve their OS.
