Imperator Neubaticus, 26 Jan 2018That's unfortunate. The note8 is light years better than th... moreTo be honest, you're actually right that the Note8 is light years better than the Note4. After all, it is 3 generations newer so I must have just exaggerated a little too much.

As in it not being a worthy successor however is maybe because I value devices on a "all-in-one" basis of which the Note4 and the V20 tick all the boxes all around.

About the removable battery, I can say that whenever I feel like it, I can have a 100% charged battery immediately without charging the depleted battery at all or I can get a high capacity zerolemon instead of the original battery.
Oh and by the way, I can remove the battery and be 100% sure that my phone is completely 100% turned off, not listened to with the microphone or the camera and in no way can it be traced into, hacked or messed with while it looks like it's "off". With the Note8 and other sealed battery device you will never have that safe assurance feeling unless you're maybe black hat elite hacker really sure about his/her I.T. knowledge or whatever they call themselves, maybe should I say anonymous? Lol. Hat's off to those people anyway, they should be embraced.

Now, the IR blaster is very useful. I use it frequently & don't understand why Samsung opted against it and the missing microsd slot as well in the Note5 and S6 line of which they later learned the hard way by people not shelling out their hard earned cash for those hardware raped devices.

Last but not least, yes, I do miss the fact not having wireless charging, but that can be circumvented by using a good quality wireless charging coil sticker and I'll most likely have fast charging but I don't need it anyway since it degrades batteries much more quickly.

Finally, about the waterproofing convenience, yes it would nice knowing I can dip it under water without fearing any damage but look at warranty claims and Samsungs test procedures. They use crystal clear filtered water whereas the water we have has all kinds of chemicals in it.
In conclusion, I believe a phone can be dual-sim, have a FM radio, IR blaster, wireless charging and IP68 protection yet have a removable battery and all the above features to tick all the boxes as being a truly "All-in-one" device.

    "The camera. Reimagined."
Sounds like something really innovative is coming... until you realize it's the same dual camera implementation already offered by many other phone manufacturers, with fake bokeh effects and other gimmicks; and possibly slow motion videos you can only use outdoors in bright sunshine unless you have video lights as bright as a stage spotlight. Nice, ingenious. Almost like how Apple highlights mediocre improvements like they were monumental breakthroughs and achievements.

AnonD-732843, 25 Jan 2018I have a Note4 too but it just broke after 4 years of use a... moreThat's unfortunate. The note8 is light years better than the note4. I would know, i owned and loved my note4 for more than 3 years before i had to upgrade. Now there is absolutely no way i can say my note8 isn't a worthy successor: The battery is just as superb, the ui is impeccable, the s pen is even more utilitarian, and the camera is more than markedly improved. Plus, there's wireless charging and i don't have to worry one bit about using the phone in the shower, in the rain, or in the tub. There's tons of new and convenient features. Watching movies and videos is much more immersive. And playing graphics instensive games are a million times more enjoyable. And what does the note4 have over the note8? A not so significant removable battery option and an ir blaster? Sorry, but those who say the note8 isn't a worthy upgrade to the note4 are either bitter or broke. Which one are you?

Not a lot know about animation that appears to slow an Android phone like iphone.

You tap on build number repeatedly in Settings to get Developer menu.

Go to Developer menu and scroll down to Window animation scale/Transition animation scale/ Animator duration scale and set all to OFF see if this helps with speed when scrolling through device in general.

Beagle Beaverton, 25 Jan 2018The phone was announced in march 2017 though? How over a year?I stand corrected, my contract runs up usually in January (right after new years) and I usually get a new phone at that time. Felt like a long time but the S8 in my hand is still awesome and has no issues.
                    Thanx for the correction.

The only thing the S7 Edge did better than the S8 was the edge screen being programmable to turn on at specified times where the S8 doesn't (as far as I know).

Other than that the S8 blows it away my wifes S7 at every step.
