And it might get support for those ... moreThere are some MIUI 9 builts running Android 8.
S3 was a flagship smartphone, Redmi series are budget ones, so I don't think they'll support split screen.

New MIUI, but running on old Android.
Not so sure it's a good solution.
New features and fixes are great, but new Android version would add even more speed, better battery life etc.

And it might get support for those features. The features are now a part of MIUI 9. Any device with it should be able to use all the features. It might not run flawlessly tho.
Samsung had split screen on the S3 which was Jelly Bean - It was a part of TouchWiz.

Who cares if it is Android 4.4 with old security patches... Android below MM is a crap. Go custom or get the cheapest and not outdated 5a...

oneplus should learn from them.. well done Xiaomi for updating the software of a phone which launched in the same year that Oneplus was formed.
