I will buy NFC powered devices when it has been fully supported and fully functional on many other devices.. Not a prototype that only support a FEW devices, and it's on symbian, ewww..

AnonD-15787, 30 Aug 2011i didn't really mean that but you are right but what i thin... moreHigh powered processors means drain on battery life, heating issues AND increase in cost. You can very well see that the price of the dual core handphones.

Gem86, 30 Aug 2011NFC does not, or hardly, cost any extra resources from the ... morei didn't really mean that but you are right but what i think Nokia should really do is to focus on making phones with superior specifications since NFC isn't as important as high processor or great resolution and since Nokia sales in eastern countries is bigger than western and since Nokia's phones are good for mid to low budget people then NFC is not as important as more powerful phones with low price

Some don't quite understand how NFC payment would work...
Basically it is for small payments. Think newsstands, vending machines, public transit, short cab rides. You would have to load the phone with credit before setting off (maybe at an NFC enabled ATM) or enable operator billing if you are on a contract.
With the charge and go method, you would not have to really fear losing the phone, there will be limits as to how much you can "deposit" on the phone (reasonable limit would be around 100$). With operator billing you would have lockouts when your NFC tab reaches a set amount of $.
It is not a Credit Card (which is just as insecure as NFC btw). It will probably play a larger role in countries where CC's aren't widely used.

AnonD-15787, 30 Aug 2011Look like a bright idea but its not
i don't think that N... moreNFC does not, or hardly, cost any extra resources from the phone. You don't need a good specsheet to use it.
It is extremely lightweight that way, comparable to infrared/bluetooth, but less power consuming.
NFC is an easy option to add to a line-up, it is relatively cheap to implement.

Really, is there anybody left that want to trust Nokia on Smartphone know that they are bound to the Redmont sinking boat ?
I mean, a great mobile phone manufacturer married with a great software manufacturer, both leader on their market that managed to screw up their market shares in a couple of years. Two broken legs does not make a valid person.
Sad for MS, Sad for Nokia.
Apple, Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony, Huawei and Google are laughing :(

I'd say NFC will spread surely at a decent rate. It'd be nice to do simple or menial things just by tapping the phone. Good luck to Nokia for this.

I'm happy.. But I would b very happy if they are going to put autofocus in camera.. Y they r not trying to understand that full/fixed focus is not perfect to take close-up shot..???
Even the new ceo also not bothering about this.. Elop fix autofocus in camera.. No more fixed focus camera..
I'm sure that the ceo wil put autofocus camera even in low end WP device to put down symbian.. Very cunning ceo..

How does the transfering files and pairing with speakers thing work with NFC? For transfer of files, the other device have to be NFC enabled? Or we have to wait for N9, 600, 701 to be out to try.

theres other applications for NFC, not just payment....im pretty sure nokia isnt pushing for NFC payments yet AND its not like they demonstrated that as well.
for now its about conveniently activating small devices such as speakers and wireless headsets. i think its better this way, implement it on small devices first and then carry on from there.
right now no one is asking you for credit card information, social security number, etc to be used in ur phone, so dont >.>

Its fine with the technology. Are you going to use it or not is another issue. If you trust it, put your electronic money in it, if not just forget it. As simple as that. But NFC is not all about money right.
