        QuasiNiente, 09 May 2018Z01RD = Asus Zenfone 5 ZE620KL Z01QD = Asus Zenfone 5z ZS6... moreThat's wrong!
        ZenFone 5 w. SDM636 has Model No. ASUS_X00QD Code: ZE620KL

        ASUS_Z01RD is ZenFone 5z flagship with SDM845 & up to 8GB RAM, as we see hier on Geekbench,
        Code: ZS620KL

        . . . also nothing mysterious hier, ZenFone 5z (ZS620KL) is coming soon . . .
        . . . and 'slightly outperforms' with AI Boost!

          Geric.770, 09 May 2018You mean like Vulkan API thingy?PowerVR is a series of mobile GPUs developed by similarly named PowerVR division of Imagination Technologies Group. Their GPUs have been licensed and used by Apple in every SoC until the A11 Bionic, which uses an in-house custom GPU. They have also been used by Intel in their mobile SoCs & as integrated GPU in Atom processors aimed at netbooks, Samsung's Exynos chipsets used in Galaxy S/S2/S4 among others.

              Z01RD = Asus Zenfone 5 ZE620KL
              Z01QD = Asus Zenfone 5z ZS620KL

                Hopefully, it is not glass and notchless if this is a real device.

                  >However, according to the score sheet, the handset has a model number of Z01RD and not ZS620KL number, which is believed to be the correct one of the ZenFone 5z. It could be an alternative designation for a different market or a new device altogether.

                  I'm surprised the article writer wasn't acquainted with Asus' phone naming, given that the site have been covering ASUS phones for quite some time (years) now. Every ASUS phone has two designations.

                  Device SKU = ZS620KL (this is used as the public designation)
                  Device model = Z01RD

                  Like, for example, my old Zenfone 2 Laser has "ZE551KL" as the SKU, but the model name is Z00TD. There are also regional variants named Z00TDA, Z00TDB, Z00TDF; but they are all ZE551KL, the difference is that the variants support different 2G/3G/4G bands.

                  So no, you're not looking at a different phone. Z01RD _is_ ZS601KL, and it _is_ Zenfone 5z.

                    I remember ASUS only for making Nexus 7.
                    Apart from that, I cannot think of anything, except for the confusing nomenclature of it's phones.

                      Z01RD is the ZS620KL btw, aka Zenfone 5z. It's always their habit to have 2 kinds of designation btw, the former is pretty useful on identifying devices while trying to customized the boot screen, and the latter is the commercial use designation btw.
