    IPC is worst than multicores...
    I will explain why.

    Imagine these instructions :
    A+B=C
    C+D=E
    These instructions need 2 cycles, your core with 7 IPC become useless.
    Your instructions need to able to be treated in parallele.
    First, it's not Always possible (see my exemple)
    Second, if it's possible on a single core, it's possible on multiple cores too.

    It provides big cores that are bigger and more power hungry too.
    Tasks schedulers will hesitate to use big cores to save battery.

    Results are clearly visible on speedtests.
    On tiny apps loading, iPhone are slower... Even against mid-range (like sd660 or Helio P60)
    On Big apps loading, iPhone are not faster (for exemple compare to Oneplus 6)
    A few tasks like like video editing take avantage of IPC...that's not daily tasks.

    If you have 2 cores, you can power only one
    If you have 1 core with higher IPC, you can't power half the core.

    About Mediatek, please tell me :
    - why there isn't any condamnations about GPL
    - why companies like Sony provide updates
    - why Google accepts to sign agrements like GMS express.

    Tell me if you think that Qualcomm, condamned in China, Taiwan, south Korea, European Union for abusing of patents IS a better choice?

    You accuse Mediatek not to pay patents...
    System doesn't work like that.
    Qualcomm refuses to sell full essential patents to competitors.
    They sell patents directly to OEM.
    So that, they can negociate to sell soc with essential patents (see Korean jugement). That's an unfair use or essential patents.
    Plus patents fees are based on the full price of the device. If you put 512GB storage or High quality camera, you pay LTE/cdma patent fees on these elements.
    If you don't make both soc and device (like Samsung, Huawei or Apple), it's nearly impossible to sell soc for High end devices.
    Not only Mediatek try with mt6595 and Helio X30, but Intel try with Z3580...both failed!

    Without these patents, Qualcomm is less present (TV, pads, tvbox...)

    What do you want?
    Qualcomm's monopoly? Intel, NVIDIA, Texas instruments, broadcom, St-microelectronics already left!
    Mediatek is the last true competitor (maybe with spreadtrum).

    Most people doesn't care about GPU.
    Mid-range like SD660, Kirin 710 or Helio P60 are nearly as fluent and fast in real use.

      This is based on "Overall Performance". Importance was given to IPC, then GPU, then multicore performance, then battery efficiency. So it can't be judged by a simple benchmark like Geekbench which is very misleading, this list is far more accurate, precise, and useful as it takes in practical/real-world performance into account. As an example, an efficient and fast quadcore will outperform a less efficient and slower octacore. I've limited it to Quadcores and didn't go past the 2012. However I've not included MediaTek chipsets since they are very confusing, and frankly aren't worth mentioning for their GPL-infractions, developer hostility, bans overseas, impeaching patents and licences held by and not paid to the rightful holders. I have no qualms including them, because I'm not a fanboy of any company I simply admire a product based on its merits, and not the logo.

      *The 2016 low-end Snapdragon 625 (along with the refreshed 626 and 630) can beat the 2014 flagship QSD 805 when it comes to multicore performance, almost match it for graphics, beats it in battery life, whilst supporting 64-bit applications... however its rated lower because the QSD 625 has a much lower IPC than the QSD 805 when comparing the in-order small Cortex A53 cores to the out-of-order large Krait 450 cores (which is similar to ARM Cortex A17 core architecture).
      **Tegra X1 wasn't included because its not a chip for phones, but for TV Consoles or Tablets. The Snapdragon 810 and 808 were rated much lower than benchmarks suggest because they throttle quickly, drain battery very fast, and generate heat. Also not suitable for a phone like the SONY Z5 Compact but instead a tablet like the Nexus 9.

        But Kryo 280 on SD835, Kryo 260 on SD660 and SD636 and Kryo 250 on SD632 are (mostly) Cortex A73 and A53. On detailled Geekbench scores, you can see they perform the same according to frequency.
        Differences come from memory :
        - 2x32bits lpddr4 support on Kryo 280
        - 2x16bits lpddr4 on Kryo 260
        - lpddr3 on Kryo 250 to fit with Adreno 506

          SD632 should have been named SD629, looking through the chart available here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Qualcomm_S­napdragon_systems-on-chip and comparing with SD625 SD626 SD630 SD636 SD660 makes this point standout.
          SD632 is a downgrade from SD630 in GPU, DSP, Memory, Modem, and WiFi speed.

                        Snapdragon 632 utilizes 8x Kryo 250. 4 of them are supposedly based on somewhat ancient Cortex-A73 core clocked at 1.8 GHz while the other 4 are based on the more ancient Cortex-A53 (more on https://www.anandtech.com/show/13000/qualcomm-announces-snapdragon-632-439-and-429-expanding-the-midtier)
                        While it's some kind of step down from the 630, it's still worth the 632 naming, especially when we talk about performance cluster CPU that replace the true octa-core

                          The highest rated here, the Snapdragon 632, is the highest/best specced SoC that Qualcomm makes for the low-end.

                          That's right, it is NOT a midrange processor, despite the BLATANT lies Qualcomm and others say. Why?
                          It has a Octacore (x8) 1.8GHz Cortex A55 processor, with the low-end Adreno 506 gpu. So its really BARELY faster than the tried'n'true Snapdragon 625. Both of them use small, and in-order calculations. These are far different to large, and out-of-order calculating processors. So there is a HUGE performance gap between this (low-end) and the ACTUAL midrange processor: Snapdragon 636.

                                      Qualcomm rebranding their old SoCs because there is virtually no competitors against them. Mediatek launched P60 which is a good processor but again we can see more devices only towards end of 2018 or in 2019. Mediatek has a clear opportunity but we can only hope they read the market well and be more aggressive like how AMD is putting a dent in Intel's monopoly with their ryzen offerings.
