06 September 2018
The rollouts are phased, however, and currently only happening in three countries.

Will Moto G4 share the Oreo love?

OMG, I can't believe Mexico is first to get an OTA update for the G5 (or any smartphone for that matter). We're usually last in line, e.g : the S7/S7 Edge are still stuck on Nougat .
I would say good for Moto and their loyal Latin American customers(they've got a huge market there), but the long wait is nothing to write home about

DaleCooper, 07 Sep 2018Bought Moto G5 Plus on the first day of sale in India still... moreGoogle pay works in pixel experience rom 8.1 oreo

Bought Moto G5 Plus on the first day of sale in India still Running Android 7.0. I haven't got any oreo update till now. If it isn't for Google Pay, I would've switched to custom ROMs.

It's all about marketing, why would you buy a new moto g6 if moto g5 packs almost the same ...so now that moto g6 is out on the market, they start delivering the update.

New update will probably ruin the phone and make it laggy. So people have to buy their new phones. Old strategies used by almost all companies.

                  Better late than never.

I can understand why companies like Samsung, LG, Huawei and Xiaomi take time to update their devices. It's because their devices use a highly customised OS, which often have a ton of extra features compared to vanilla OS. It's a fair (and sometimes advantageous) trade-off in most cases.

However, Motorola runs a very clean version close to stock Android, with very low modifications. I don't see why they should take so much time. Oh well, Moto isn't what it used to be.

Actually Lenovo is doing this stupid things, In past motorola is the best phone for software update but after lenovo owned motorola, all the problem start are begins with software update, phone design, phone price, now its start with launching also in india....this is ridiculous..i think motorola should take action against lenovo company, Hope are still there with motorola ( Our first Mobile Company ).

rajmanek, 07 Sep 2018Never will i buy a moto phone nor recommended anyone to do ... moreEven my G4 play still works. Don't fool people.

Already sold my Moto G5 Plus. I've held many devices in past all from different brands like Sony, Nokia, Xiaomi, Samsung, Oneplus, etc. But Moto was the worst software support experience for me. Never going to buy another lenovo or moto device ever again.

Xhxhyy, 07 Sep 2018Meanwhile, Moto G5s Plus still abandoned. My Moto G5S too. Exchanged it for a Mi A1. I bought the Motonovo G5S in april but now it became a nice and beautiful paper weight and with 32-bit I'm not really interested, though I didn't receive any updates from MFN. Still 7.1.1 June here in austria.

This here's probably only 32 bit. A nasty fact I found out when trying to install Life is Strange (64 bit only) on the G5 Plus (in comparison, a year old Redmi Note 4 which runs on actual 64 bit Android can install said game and run it with no issues).

The Z2 Play of my father also received 32-bit Oreo. Lenovorola has been called out for using 32 bit Android despite having chipsets that run 64 bit Android.

I'm surprised Google hasn't punished Lenovorola for this...

                                  Soon...
                                  In 2019.

And this is why, you buy a Nokia when smart enough.

Never will i buy a moto phone nor recommended anyone to do so.. its only getting worse day by day in terms of software updates
