Love the Community, 22 Sep 2018RED should just change the motherboard and SOC to a SD845 o... moreAnd go right back to the beginning for certification.

There are already "Houdini" developers' version 'phones in the wild, making peoples' jaws drop with the 4v display (Not technically holographic). But this is only the core of an ecosystem, with a 2D cinema module (Recording in .r3d), battery, and who-knows-what else.
For Red, and their core customers, even the Ti model is low end, and I know of at least one person who has ordered 12 of the Al version, for his own use.
Ticking off the days till 9th Oct when my one will be on its way.

And what iPhone has for same prices? Exactly no holographic screen :)

Quantum electrodynamics clearly states that the photons cannot interact one with another otherwise one beam of laser would stop or deviate another beam of laser which is not possible theoretical and experimentally also proven.

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2018Learn some basic physics, one photon does not interact with... moreThe implications of QED include that one photon can interfere with another; in fact it can interfere with itself as in the famous two-slit experiment!
What the other poster does not understand is that photon interference doesn't involve them stopping. It is not American football.
A laser beam is required to reconstitute the image from a hologram, and that means even if the display showed a hologram - improbable - it wouldn't be possible to reconstitute it as an image. I don't know what they are doing but tbh I can't be bothered to pay out $1300 to find out.

Chris Apple, 22 Sep 2018Titanium??? Are you building a tank out there? It should be... moreEr, no, you have confused tantalum and titanium. Taking strength into account and the Young modulus, titanium should be lighter than 300 series stainless and about the same as 7000 series aluminium, but is more dent resistant than the aluminium. Personally I consider it a waste of money in a phone, but it should be 60% the weight of stainless and the same as 7068.
As any phone is out of date in a few years, making the casing of something designed to last forever is a bit redundant.

You get confused because you saw mid air holograms in SF movies and such things are not possible in present days.

DOA. No one will care for this poory executed gimmick.

Titanium??? Are you building a tank out there? It should be around 250 grams for that size because titanium is a lot denser than stainless steel, let alone aluminium. Although the weight will go up, along with it safety will grow too, so a nice addition to have. Only price is the only drawback so far, just like stainless steel framed iPhone XS Max.

RED should just change the motherboard and SOC to a SD845 one. It should be easy to make, right?

Few comments hating its shape and weith unnecessarily. This phone is not meant for the mass market. It is meant for a special, target audience.

Al-least we get what we are paying for as compared to a $1100 fruit comapny that does not even give a 25c dingle in the box !

                                        Oh finally!
