I always thought I had a faulty camera unit. I do not normally use my phone camera though. So it is no problem for me. But will probably shift back to LG or Samsung. Sony too seems good now

About the DxO comments here, some people seem to be in the blank about how the test is conducted.
The tests are done by using the SAME pictures each time. Same pictures people.
While I agree Xiaomi had included the 'libs', that is the code in the camera, to assist the AI software, I also have to disagree. Why only the libs for DxO?
They worked so hard to make the camera be able to recognise DxO mark test pictures that every other scene or pictures u take with it later is lacking in quality.
By that I mean bad low light camera quality. AI does not work well. Only detects a few scenes. Sound in video recording is horrible.
Invest time to make the proper code for the software and user experience Xiaomi instead of worrying of how to look good in a benchmark.
I owe a Mi Mix 2S. Not a bad phone but the supposed flagship components are not being put to good use.

Recommendations show ads that are local and preferred to you, turning them off makes ads more global.
I have recommendations turned off, still I get ads when I start MI apps like music player
This is something that I hate about MI

To all who are complaining about the ads, do you know how to use a Xiaomi phone or do you even have one? In my first day of using a Xiaomi phone, I was surprised because it really has ads in many apps. So I simply go to the settings of each app and disabled the "Recommendation". Problem solved, no more ads now. So pls don't tell the world how ignorants you are by not knowing how to get rid of ads. I think you can search it in Google too.
Now on the positive side, what I really like in Xiaomi phones are their camera and UI. Even their cheapest phone (Redmi 5A) is equip with PDAF. And their Redmi Note 5 AI is the cheapest phone in the market with Dual Pixel autofocus. Moreover, their MIUI is more feature-packed than EMUI.

Xiaomi does work together with DxOMark to tune the camera software until it gets good enough results, doesn't mean they are cheating against them.

DxO isn't a benchmark as it requires a panel of humans to make the final judgement on picture and video quality. And your second link is to some indian blog that re-hashes the same thing.

Good on them. They do offer good value, quality and in my opinion an Android experience that's better than stock Android. About ads in the OS, I did have stuff like the Mi Music, Mi Video and Mi Drop throwing ads as notifications.
But on disabling them and disabling their notification permissions, the ads have stopped. Either way this was better for me than stock Android where I had to download third party apps for stuff that was in built in MIUI and those apps pushed horrible full page ads that terribly slowed a phone.
A big issue with Xiaomi though is how they have a one year warranty on phones and six months on accessories that include the internal, sealed battery. That's unfair and anti consumer. I am surprised they haven't been called out for this.
Does this hold even for their more expensive phones?
