Samsung is working on a six-camera smartphone with 5G and a large 6.7-inch display

Otherwise, the Galaxy S10 might be announced in February.

There is no 5G coverage where I'm from though so it's pretty useless for me.

still ... it won't make much trouble for a manufacturer to release a practical phone every now and then.
it's funny that the only affordable phones I consider to be a replacement for my 5 year old Galaxy Note 3 are already 2 year old themselves!

      Dear Santa.
For an upcomming Xmas i would like to have a phone with a large camera 2 depth sensors a monochrome one camera a wide angle camera a telephoto camera a 3D scanner camera a thermal camera, and make this to front and back of the screen.

Dear Dusan i tryied to contact Samsung but it looks like they already heard you and your gift is on its way :-)
I am hapyp that billions of people overpaid their devices to make this useless toy which nobody apart you needs and wil use.
      Happy Xmas Santa.

Anonymous, 22 Nov 2018Yep... this is almost funny! But just almost...There's a company who's already took them over. Light with theirt Light L16 16 lenses camera. It's just a pocket camera but if you put aside the smartphone context, Light L16 is the pocketable gadget with the most camera lenses in the world. :)

80 MegaPixel cameras in 2019 lol.

But of course there must be one more thing
                  Something not new
                  Something quite old
                  But still useful...

Tann Hauser, 21 Nov 2018You forgot the 128 bit audio.... That is a must! if they w... moreShould be a 512bits audio processor with NO audio jack, bluetooth v67 aapxsplf and a tiny mono-speaker underneath next to the USB type F port. They'd probably call this Dolby Real True Atmos Pure Wide Quadro-Stereo it's-so-great-you-wont-believe-it sound!

I guess it's screen will either be a ridiculous 15" or a 5" by then with 15360x8640 pixels. And if we're talking about a Google phone it'll come equipped with a measly 2000mAh battery ;-)

If we're referring to an LG model then bootloop will be a "standard feature" while a full working phone will be a "special edition", a ThinQ-model so to speak ;-)

These handset makers are making such a fucking joke of themselves. I swear 2019 will be the year o/t most ridiculous phones. I can't wait to see what xioauieweimi will come up with.

Finaly a serious question - the size of the sensors.
Enough with the dummiest issue "notches/no notches"!
And this is on SAMSUNG. Huawei (!) already uses big
sensors: 1/1.7" in P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro, and 1/2.3"
in P20 and Mate 20 . Let us do not forget, that the
famous Canon PowerShot G16 and the compact Canon PowerShot S120 cameras work with the same sensors
size 1/1.7", and are great! And most of the remaining compact and pocket cameras of all brands in the whole world are with 1/2.3" sensors. Meanwhile, even the flagship of SAMSUNG - Note 9, our dream phone, the
best of the best, is with tiny little sensors. Huawei has
normal, "photographic" sensors, like in photo camera,
but SAMSUNG don't wants to understand the role of
                        the bigger sensors...
Let's hope SAMSUNG reads GSMARENA !

"so we wonder how many cameras it will take before phone makers start using larger sensors instead of multiple small sensors"

That is not how it works.
Larger sensors, needs more depth for the optics = thicker devices, and not just by a fraction.
It also requires larger lenses, meaning less durable camera optics.
And there still need to be at least 3 sensors and optics, to achieve the same lift in Ultra Wide angle as well as Tele and not only for the "normal" lens. To achieve the same amount of captured details from a "nomal" lens as the Mate 20 Pro for example offers on its Tele, the sensor would have to grow quite a bit, and thus meaning a really thick device, we are talking centimeters here.

So, no, to get the best picture quality from a mobile, makers will have to keep putting several of cameras on them.
What Google does with a single sensor is impressive... But imagine what they could do with 3 or more...

                                1) Even from same brand, the quality of software will be different across different devices.
                                2) Auto mode will always give different settings.
                                3) You have to use same ISO and SS for both, even better if you have raw because the difference will be more hardware based.

If for example the f1.7 of 1/3" was same of f1.7 of 1/2.3" then the bigger sensor would be useless because with the same shutter speed the same amount of light would come in.

Huawei has f1.8 while Samsumg and LG have f1.5. Both cannot outperform P20 Pro because the sensor is smaller, the wider aperture made no difference here.

Even a APS-C using a f3.5 at night can easily humiliate a phone that has f1.7 or f1.5.

Auto mode is not good to compare. It depends on many stuff. Software can be tuned different ways with same hardware.
