20 January 2019
The second display has great photography applications and it rounds off an already impressive flagship package. Or does it?

Another trend that will come and go

Pretty useless, puting a case will be problematic, whithout case you risking to break it in no time.

Luxor, 21 Jan 2019Like Oppo N1? Internally? If it dropped and break there no ... moreNot like Oppo N1.
          N1 rotated externally & could've been broken/ manhandled.
In my idea, the phone is just like a regular phone, only that camera (sensor+lens) will rotate inside the device with a small motor... transparent glass is on both sides, selfie side and main cam side, from which camera will peek outside the body.

So, body is solid & reliable here, in fact, most people won't even notice it has rotating camera inside.

We're talking about a sealed uni-body. Why should it break from inside? Proper testing must be done before launch.
And device dropped means anything can crack, display, second display, camera glass, etc. Company can't be responsible for that.

Vivo be like: "We made a phone with a back to back screen to avoid the notch!"

Average People be like: "wow a phone with a back to back screen! Cool!"

Little they know this so-called "feature" is just a waste.

Trebla, 21 Jan 2019Agreed. Actually they could add Rear Mirrored Glass in o... moreIt's called "selfie camera", but it also has another use - video calls. Without a camera and a screen pointing at you you'll be unable to make them. I think a corner notch would be a much better option.

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2019And the selfie camera comes free? No, of course not, but a single selfie camera is about 10% of the cost of a display. So why add more than necessary?

I would completely remove the selfie camera. I always have it covered with a sticker. (fingerprint and iris scanner also)
Dual displays are a very dumb idea from my point of view. Nothing but a battery hog.
I would be interested in a dual display phone only if it would open up like a laptop and have real keyboard buttons. But a display on each side is just silly.

Trebla, 21 Jan 2019Agreed. Actually they could add Rear Mirrored Glass in o... moreNot a useful idea.

                      1. Whatsapp or any Video calls won't be possible.
                      2. Framing won't happen correctly... The camera will see a different angle compared to the mirror.

Its the exact reason why DSLR's have mirrors, instead of the older "approximate viewfinders".

Take a look at my original idea in the earlier comment and let me know what you think.

I've mentioned it many times that I favour internally rotating cameras i.e. cameras that rotate inside the body of mobile phone. Its never been done before.
Its the best solution I can think of, in terms of cost, reliability, endurance, functionality, space & weight saving, performance and selfie cam features. Best of all worlds.

What more cost can a DC motor add to a phone? 5 US cents, or so? Maybe adding just 3 grams or so in weight?
And it saves one or two complete selfie cameras!!

And so. I've voted "NOT" because its not cool to have energy, resources and money wasting solutions like a double display...
Why don't companies listen to our ideas? Don't they read GSMArena comments section?

r33fd, 20 Jan 2019No need to add a whole second screen just to take a selfie !This year it's either that or cut a hole in the screen. Which is less mad?

Very hot. They do need to refine their broken code bits. And allow smoother switch from 16:9 to 19.5:9

Of course i will expect the price cut because bezel-less without front camera .

That would save energy for the handset. Selfie is handy, but I personally would use that for less everfgy required stuff. Huge screen for streaming, gaming and web browsing that requires more info on the page. So yeah, I'm in for dual screen. Out with notch!
