        Soooo. . .. Sony will launch a dual-core 1GHz, 4" qHD screen and 1GB phone in mid 2012?

Jey? This is basically Motorola Atrix specs. And that was launched Feb. this year.

Where's your quad-core Sony? HD screen res? Properly calibrated OLED of some sorts worthy of Bravia logo?

        Come'an, tempt us!

        And no easy-break plastic please.

Ericsson was once groundbreaking in the mobile world. Sony Ericsson had some okay phones, but they never lasted long due to buggy FW, and pretty much all had a cheap feel. On Android they've been lagging behind others. Seems Sony has no ambition to change this when they go out on their own :/

I have not been a fan of SE since i moved away from their phones years ago. Their UI design for android phones wasnt appealing to me, and that goes for the phone design as well.. although I must admit the Arc was a nice supriese.

Now that Sony and Ericsson are ending their relationship, I think Sony should go back to the drawing board and work on a new design that would distinguish them on the market all over again. In their shoes I would also lose the Xperia name tag. Sony has been in the music business for decades so they should definitely do something with their walkman series as well (the current models are not appealing to me), maybe something along the lines of HTC+beats. (Imagine here a Walkman branding on the back that lights up in orange when you plug in your Sony headphones.)

Sony should be careful, and take their next step slowly. They are in the position to make a real impact in the smartphone market but only if they can come up with something new and fresh.
