If Samsung can make a scratch-resistant out-folding phone that's similar in size to the Fold footprint (the Mate X is ridiculously too big and not pocketable at all), I would totally get one. Not for $2000+ though. That's stupid expensive.

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2019Vertical folding phone doesn't need external screen. Surely... moreThe vast majority of flip phones had a smaller external screen for caller id and notifications...

Vertical folding phone doesn't need external screen. Surely the whole point is to have a full-size screen when flipped open, but a nicely smaller phone folded in your pocket. Just like the flip phones of old.

This is very smart on Samsung's part. It shows other companies that they're the best bet for foldable displas

But it never goes to production because of the impracticality of the design....... Although they are the first to show flexible screen in 2014, because they are the only company (along with LG) that can produce such thing........

Great, it will only means the prices are going to get reduced with more productions and more versions of the foldable phones. Also I'm more interested in the Huawei Mate X Fold implementation than the Samsung Fold. Good that Samsung is making one as well. Hopefully they can reduce the bezels this time and please get rid of that stupid camera notch. Just use the rear camera's Samsung.
