This update appears to only be for the India version. All the phones for sale on Ali Express are the China version, so there's still no viable way of getting a Redmi Note 7 Pro with a global ROM. The global ROM for the India version isn't even on the official site yet:

Xiaomi have really let their customers down with the Redmi Note 7 Pro and it's still not even clear if we'll be able to buy one. Hopefully they'll produce a global ROM for the China version.

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2019Shame no update can fix Note 7's biggest issue which is it'... moreI used to hate big phones. For me, the perfect sized phone was my iPhone 5s. Then time came when I was forced to buy a big phone in order to read PDF files easily wherever I go. I bought the Realme C1. And to my surprise, I can use it using one hand. I have a small hands, by the way. The secret lies in the phone case, I think. The free clear phone case of my Realme C1 is not slippery. It's funny to think that I sold my Mate 10 Lite before because it was big and I couldn't use it with one hand, yet I am now using a bigger phone which I found to be operable in one hand. So I think, choosing the rihgt phone case matters.

Great camera phone with excellent night mode..it has far better camera than many high priced smart phones...because Xiaomi knows this simple math that large camera sensor means better noise free photo quality

All compacts so far have been only flagship with premium price and all the 5.7-5.8 inch screens that get under 150mm tall were same as either with brand name and pitiful hardware and high price or lower price and budget for low end middle class cpu or even middle class cpu that all are under 100 000 Antutu points range.

Smaller screens phones have not been made for a while that are worth to buy. Either too old or still too large with there large bezels.

We need something that is maximum 120mm tall and 70mm wide body that fits in that 5 inch screen or even bigger without bezels and selfie cam. But as there are nothing like that on the market then there is no statistics of what people prefer to have bigger or smaller

Anonymous, 12 Apr 2019You do know there are other options besides RN7(P), right? Not a lot, though - when you look at devices released in last year, most of them are 6"+. When you ultimately find a compact device, it's usually either an absolute low range OR an ultimate flagship. There's only a handful of midrange devices which are really hard to choose from.

The issue here is the vicious circle where people buy these oversized paddles even if they hate how big they are just because of price. And since only phones with best price/performance ratios are giantic like Note7, manufacturers think that people like those so they keep enlarging the devices to absolutely ridiculous dimensions. Like the recent Galaxy A80/A70 - a whole 6.7", just what on earth, that's a tablet with smartphone features if you ask me.

Whoever was the first guy who thought that giving a phone 6" display (and thus making the device un-usable with 1 hand) was a good idea deserves to be kicked in the nuts.
