Anonymous, 19 Jun 2019And none of that addressed the factual point I madeWider aperture is not always better.
That is what I say and you still dont get it.

Bigger sensor with smaller aperture can grab more light than smaller sensor with bigger f value. And f1.6 on 1/2.6" is not necessarily bigger diameter than f2.4 on much bigger sensor.

Periscope of P30 Pro has f3.4 but aperture diameter is bigger than the f2.4 of iphone. There are many factors that are related. The f is not a constant .....

Im a Xperia fan since Sony Ericsson, i was a bit disappointed with overall Xperia cams (not bad, but not excellent) i was considering change to another brand but with the Xperia 1 they got me, and im patiently waiting for delivery.

They announced a while back, that they started working with light. I think, that they are making a setup like the Nokia 9.

And everyone here is acting like a pro.
Why don't you make your own phone and put the camera you like.

Sony phone style just keep getting more elongated along with the camera. Looks like cheap camera bundle together to seem cool.

Yeah one last try before dying sony come-on

iam one of...sony and lg are to die bcoz they offer and hype about their products which hardy live 10% of expectations ..camera they have good hardware but worst optimization ,battery best optimization but lower mah hardware ...we are frustrated to such that once top 3 brands (htc, nokia, sony),are no more in our watch list..since title said camera,i read and commenting..with samsung launching e series of 3000mah,it will follow fate of lg...xiomi,oppo and huaewai will be global leaders ..

NunoB512, 19 Jun 2019I know you cant, but the end result is the same. More does ... moreFive, the ToF is just sensor not camera. You cant shoot stills or video using ToF. It is just a helper.

It depends on what they plan to do with it. I personnaly would like to have one sensor and lens that can go from 12mm to 120mm like compact cam. But it has many downsides like design, IP rating etc ....

Panorama does not have same quality of photo taken by UWA.
Digital zoom cant match longer focal length. Unless you have huge resolution to crop. But for small mobile sensors you cant escape from water colour effects this way.

Because of weaker hardware, cellphones use computational bokeh. All look crap.
Parts of the body eaten by the blur, poor texture of hair, brow and below eyes.

Anonymous, 19 Jun 2019But in reality will take dramatically better images in real... moreDepends more on settings you use.

A 1/1.7" with f1.8 can easily outperform 1/2.55" + f1.5 at night. Exactly the case of P20 Pro against S9+.

My phone does not have OIS, so it will rely on higher ISO to avoid blur. If I set ISO below 200 the results are completely differents compared to ISO 800, ISO 1200 etc .. Same post processing was used.

Bad cam is bad cam in all situations, there is no great in daylight but crappy at night.

Did you notice that all use f2.2, f2.4 or even f2.6 for UWA and zoom? Larger aperture increases lens size. Also smaller aperture are better to keep texture. Samsung traded the f1.7 and now use f2.4 in daylight without losing the same noise free/no details style ...

As you increse focal length, it is harder to keep faster aperture. Reason those 600mm F2.4 are much thicker than a fat leg. Something a 600 f5.6 wont be.

Auto mode will never give better results than manual. If ppl rely on auto and dont get best the phone can do, it is their fault not phone's ... If they offer manual it is because they expect you to use.

I did not say that it uses more than 5 or 6.

Full Frames mirrorless with similar battery size of iphone 8 have much lower endurance than cellphones.

Geeks want OIS, it needs energy to work. As the module goes bigger, OIS go bigger too both axis X and Y.

48mp and 12mp (might be monochrome) will work as main sensor.

                                20mp - telephoto

Nothing you said addressed their point. That's like all different setups when at least a couple could have been combined. Not necessarily all.

Not everyone loved the purview but not everyone hated it. Plus it was more acceptable then.
Plus it could have been refined and worked on more. In fact the 40 to 48mp sensors now are practically the same size. So your point is completely invalid.
Not to mention the fact you can say what you want about size but that sensor.... From 2012.... Not 05... Is the reason that at times that phone still takes the best photos.
And during 2005 any camera size would have been accepted because Phones were already thicker. Back before 2010 phones had cool land unique designs and functions.
