Deal: 128GB Google Pixel 2 XL for only $339.96

That's around $260 off the going rate in most places.

Don't waste your money. Get a Pixel 3a or 3a XL. Much better phone, better screen (Samsung vs LG), better camera and photo software, and headphone jack too.

Anonymous, 07 Jul 2019Oh get off your high horse, you're the one who compared it ... moreYour litany of justifications why the almost 2-year old Pixel 2XL is worth it now with the 'sale' price is proof you buy based on emotion and feelings and most likely buy based on bragging rights than true substance and functionality.

Already told you before: The crippled Pixel 2XL doesn't offer anything worth its exorbitant price even if it is already discounted. It's an almost 2 year old phone with outdated processor and end of life software support for the exorbitant price of $339.96. Nothing in it deserves the price other than the nice 'feel good' Google brand.

Ancient technologies you say? I can only laugh at you. Name me a recording studio, karaoke, home theater or high fidelity audio system that no longer uses the 'ancient', 3.5mm jack. Can't find any?

You say a 1 TB Sandisk micro sd card ancient? Ok. Name me a 2019 camcorder brand, compact point and shoot or professional camera brand, action camera brand or a game console brand (Nintendo switch, etc.) that doesn't use the 'ancient' SD or micro SD technology anymore or an equivalent proprietary removable card format (using purely internal storage). Any??

FM radio ancient? Name me a populous country, region or state (developed or developing) which doesn't broadcast analog FM radio anymore. Can't find any? I though so. Only Norway turned off analog FM, and even then, it's not entirely gone in all regions of Norway despite a small population of just above 5M.

You see, you've been brainwashed by manufacturers who are after planned obsolescence. Bluetooth earbuds are preferable to use on certain use case scenarios yes, but they can NEVER replace a wired connection. Why can't phone users have both options? Planned obsolescence.

Isn't it crystal clear? Or are you still brainwashed? I would have no problem if you said you liked Pixel phones because of bragging rights and because you place high priority on looks, image, 'taste' and prestige. After all, people don't dine in luxury restaurants where the food is uber-expensive because the food tastes 1000x bettter. It's the ambiance and the company of the rich and famous that makes them enjoy the food better, giving the PLACEBO effect that the food does taste 1000x better justifying the 1000x higher price they paid compared to a similar menu in another run of the mill restaurant.

Anonymous, 05 Jul 2019Ahem... Excuse me. What 'extra' Google Pixel 2XL features a... moreOh get off your high horse, you're the one who compared it to the Plasticophone first. The headphone jack, slow and unreliable microSD cards and FM radio are ancient technologies, no major flagship has those features anymore, heck even Samsung is starting to get rid of them lol if you want those features then you better get a cheap low-end phone or a mid-range one. The 2 XL has an endurance rating of 88h, which is just 6h less than the Plasticophone with its 4000mAh battery, not bad for a phone with a much better 1440p P-OLED display. 64GB is still adequate in this day and age and if you want more then get the 128GB model. 4GB of RAM is kind of small but it's not that big of deal thanks to Google's software optimization. I trust Google's camera and software more than anything Xiaomi offers, just check DxOMark, the Pixel 2 released 10 months earlier scored 98 compared to the Plasticophones 91, the latter doesn't even support OIS. Also, it has no NFC chip or an official IP rating and it doesn't support many 4G LTE bands like the Pixel does. I don't give a damn about selfies so I could care less if it has a lower 8MP selfie camera. And you're right, it can't record 2160p 60fps videos because of the SoC, even the powerful Note8 can't. At least 2160p 30fps videos support gyro-EIS. BTW the Plasticophones 960fps super slow-motion video recording is fake, look it up. And being able to upload as many original quality photos and videos as I want and getting the fastest software updates in the industry are definitely significant advantages, not to mention the pleasure of using something waaay better than fugly MIUI. Those are the extra features and advantages I was talking about earlier including Active Edge and some Pixel exclusive software. If the price of a premium Pixel phone is too high for you then get the 3a or 3a XL, or wait for good deals like this one. And I never said there aren't better phones out there but the 2 XL is still a better option than a cheap, wannabe "flagship". Remember, it's not just about simple-minded specs but the overall user experience, something Google's clearly better at doing.

HalfEntity, 06 Jul 2019It is obvious you are just a spec hunter and nothing else. ... moreSpec hunter. Wow! So you buy a phone based on beauty, personality and breeding? 😊 Never for once looking at the specs because what you can't measure and quantity will justify your choice of a preferred brand. If you are after bragging rights due to the Google name and the uber-pricing of Pixel phones, then I can understand that. After all, for many people, image is everything.

g6 user, 05 Jul 2019well features like a much better screen quality poco phone ... moreFor your information, oled based displays are only gloriously beautiful compared to IPS LCDs over the short term, and even then, they're no match to IPS LCDs in offering superior sharpness for the same screen resolution, accurate colors, flicker free, dizziness free viewing experience and overall long term display longevity and durability. If you don't know, blue leds are shortlived that's why after a year, an oled based display will look yellower in white balance. Oled based displays also suffer from severe, permanent screen burn in. As a result, they don't maintain the same pristine ghost free screen as they were when brand new. Also, maximum overall brightness in oled displays deteriorate rapidly
especially if you like bright screen settings most of the time. That's because oleds produce their own light and burn out with time. So there, take your pick. Long term display accuracy, maximum brightness and color consistency and display longevity (IPS) vs. short term beautiful uber-saturated colors and deep blacks that gradually become worse and inferior to IPS LCD starting on the first yeat onwards with horrible burn ins.
As for GCam with night sight, actually, it has been ported to many phones including the Pocophone. And the ported versions are actually more customizable, not like the auto only versions you find in Pixel phones because Google thinks Pixel phone buyers or users are too dumb to be able to use those settings tweaks.
First in updates? True but the Pocophone is not far behind. The fact is, both Pixel 2 XL and Pocophone are getting old. 2 years and there will be no more major android updates for both. But guess what? The Pocophone has an extensive following and huge developer community so you can be sure it will have android R or even S while your Pixel phone gets stuck in android Q. There. I hope I made things clear why even a discounted Pixel phone is just not worth it. Lots better choices than Google's crippled Pixel phones.

Anonymous, 05 Jul 2019Ahem... Excuse me. What 'extra' Google Pixel 2XL features a... moreIt is obvious you are just a spec hunter and nothing else. The Pixels are amazing phones. For people like you I would sell them without specs so you can just play around with them and see how fast, smooth, fantastic app and services integration, mind-boggling camera etc they have. Nobody said that phones like the Poco F1 aren't great....but give them 18 months and see how frustrated you get without software updates, with inferior camera etc. Try the phones, stop looking at the spec sheet.

Anonymous, 05 Jul 2019The Pixel 2 XL has no ugly notches and its camera, software... moreAhem... Excuse me. What 'extra' Google Pixel 2XL features are you talking about? The absence of dual SIM? The stupidly low battery capacity? The absence of a headphone jack and FM radio? The stupidly small maximum internal storage option with ZERO micro sd expansion? The inferior snapdragon 835 with 4GB of RAM vs the Pocophone's snapdragon 845 with 8GB of RAM? The low 8 megapixel resolution selfie cam vs. the Pocophone's 20 megapixels? The Pixel 2XL's single rear cam that can't even capture 4K 60fps videos and 960fps super slow mo videos? The exorbitant price even if already discounted? Now tell me, what does the Pixel offer at its exorbitant price that the Pocophone doesn't have? The non-plastic body? No notch? Free cloud storage in exchange for losing micro sd expansion of up to 1TB? Fastest sotware updates? Are those all you can think of as 'significant' advantages? Who are you fooling? Yourself? Well good for you. For the majority of users, there are vastly better options than the overpriced, overhyped, crippled Pixel phones.

Anonymous, 05 Jul 2019$128GB Google Pixel 2XL for only $339.96? With snapdragon 8... moreThe Pixel 2 XL has no ugly notches and its camera, software, screen, build and design are way better than the Plasticophone, not to mention all the extra Google features that are exclusive to Pixel phones. Just because it has a flagship SoC doesn't automatically make it a good phone especially with its crappy software. And nobody cares about microSD cards dude, most phones come with enough internal storage and then there's the cloud if you need more or want to backup important files in order to free up some space.

And of course, they won't give discount for the compact version, because people are actually still buying it, since all the chinese manufacturers go for tablet sizes with their phones.

$128GB Google Pixel 2XL for only $339.96? With snapdragon 835? Nope. I'd rather get the Pocophone F1 for less than $300 and use the change to buy a 400GB micro sd card.

Not bad. Costs less than an S8+
