Or it could be a new Light module with 4x64mp. :)

This is like the Nokia pureview, but hopefully for video too. But they have been talking about doing higher resolutions by overlapping lower resolution sensors. I think Nokia is claiming they could do over 200mp. It's a bit dodgy to me, but the numbers add up. Maybe it is 4 16mp sensors.

Guys, the issue is, 48mp has been largely misused, and ultra low light and better HDR are not included. They use it on cheap phones instead of a 12mp sensor. With proper low light and HDR technologies, things would be much better.

This thing of binning 4 pixels of the same color may help low light etc, but I say if they downscale the pixels in normal light based on on the corners to get different colors, the 4k pictures would likely be better compared to the other way (and you could even make a binning mode that acts like that). The other way is like an old 1.6micron pixel sensor before recent improvements.

They already used a bunch of marketing tricks before to hide the mediocre phones that they release. So i don't expect anything better now.

But there is something good... if this cheap bricks will have new sensors. That means that soon a better ones from Redmi/Xiaomi, Huawei, etc, will arrive too.

Sony will presente sensors 81MP 1/1.5" and 108MP 1/1.2" .. Probably both Quadbayer.

I have no idea if this will be available for any brand interested or if it is for their own phones.
