06 March, 2012
While the apk size will remain 50MB, the total app size can now be as high as 4GB thanks to expansion files.

Maybe they should start considering equipping phones with more than a paltry 16 GB! And now they even remove the SD card slots !?!

There are 128GB modules since 2010:

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2012Android is going more and more downhill each day. ICS at 1%... moremaybe you're friend of jhun, as he made quite an intelligent post few posts below. do you even have any idea what this 1% stands for? how is that going downhill? your stated adoption of ICS meaning that the manufacturers have not yet adopted new iteration of Android OS, therefore, most of the phones are still on Gingerbread or Eclair. but this fact does not state whether this going upwards or downwards as the manufacturers are working on implementing this version of Anroid to their phone which will then be updated. ICS is too many things changed in the framework (HWA,UI,etc) that's why its taking time and also there arent many devices that officially run ICS yet (not talking about Xda devs making AOSP, ported Roms) and the app developers need to catch up. so you might want to rethink your post or think twice before posting. thank you

CJS, 06 Mar 2012How do you manage to expand your phones memory? On my Galax... moreyou can swap your internal and external sd, search on xda forum there's a lot info about this.

for gameloft games, there's also app on market called GL to SD. it solve issue with gameloft games on phone that have /sdcard as internal non-expandable memory.

and last, you can always root your phone, install busybox, and create link between directory using mount -o bind, or symlink (symbolic links).

        hope that helps.

Android apps don't always cost more than their iOS counterparts. Angry Birds, for example, will cost you 99c in the App Store, but it's free on Android. It's up to the developers on how much they want to charge.

Also don't see it as a problem unless writing a game or something. If an app uses more than 50MB, I will definitely be hesitant to download it!

Android is going more and more downhill each day. ICS at 1% adoption, each update gets taken up by less and less people. WP7 will wipe them out.

SD_card is internal memory and non expandable, and is where app2SD moves software to and from the main device storage.

Personally, I don't see this as a problem. Though I sometimes get apps from the Android Market, I prefer actually downloading the files to my PC, then installing them to my droid.
I prefer this way, because I will still have the APKs even when I get a new droid, or when someone asks me to install the software on their droid.

OT: Paid apps? No problem. A lot are available for free! :)

AnonD-27881, 06 Mar 2012wow... What happen Google? 4GB of apps limit size? and all ... morewhat kind of nonsense is that. have you actually read the article? please dont say yes as clearly you havent. it's about Google increasing their app size that they allow developers to create an app for and place it in google market (50mb previously - now 4GB) meaning that the app will still be around 50mb but the extra data that needs to come along when you donwload the app will be hosted on google servers for developers and users convenience. be so kind and read it again, if that doesnt help read until you understand what's it about. but it has nothing to do with internal phone memory which also depends on the manufacturers and not google

What happen Google? 4GB of apps limit size? and all ... moreAt least, we, Android users have the possibility of expanding our phones' memory with Micro SD, and usually, these big additonal app files are automatically stored on them... so you don't have to worry about us. Worry about your non-expandable systems.

wow... What happen Google? 4GB of apps limit size? and all of manufacturer of Android Phone only release a minimum of 8GB Internal Storage and Maximum of 16GB Internal Storage.... Hope all of Android Fan read this and know what I mean... if they will increase size limit of apps, they also need to increase the "Internal Storage" of the Smartphone and increase the capacity of memory card up to 64GB.... so the smartphone can store more files and apps...

Android is 3 years behind IOS...
By the time Android reaches there, IOS will be much much more ahead again...
And the reason is IOS is the creator and Android is the Copy of it...
