Don't get me wrong I love updates as much as the next guy, but it's far from necessary to buy a new phone just because of this. Android, and especially samsung phones has a LOT of features a long time ago, the new os version doesn't bring too much new things. If it works well and does everything, then what's the problem? Also it gets security updates much longer than 2 years, you that shouldn't be a problem either. Again, I would love samsung to give us more updates, but the situation is not that dramatic.

Yes they should atleast give more then 2 major os upgrades

make the major OS release more than just 2 years. it's like saying buy a new phone every two years... which makes an apple phone more enticing for the long run.

Guys, tell to Samsung official support website and say to them that we need more update for older devices. They'll look up to us. Cause we're the one who pays for their phone.

I dont want to repeat the same story here... The real question is when will they change. If they cannot provide more than 2 years of software support, then they have to provide atleast one of these:
              - 2 years of hardware warranty
              - Quick updates to S9 & S10 series at the same time, like Apple way.. My S9 will get Android 10 update only next year
              - Provide Google vanilla OS for S series.. They used to do earlier, but they have stopped it now.

For anyone with an unlocked US S9/S9+ and a T-Mobile SIM, this could be the first update since Pie was released.

Honestly why are people surprised by this, Samsung have always done this, 2 years of major upgrades and then if lucky security patches. I've read people trying to say they should be like apple with software upgrades, imagine trying to create updates for 40+ phones each year, I can guara tee mistakes will be made with the firmwares which will affect their brand. If you want updates get a Google phone even better get an iPhone cos people bring it up so much. Does nobody research phones anymore before a purchase?

NEELAM4, 25 Sep 2019Discriminating S9 users... S10 & Note 10 users will get... moreAre you seriously comparing iOS software updates to Samsung phones software updates? Samsung released around 30-40 phones this year and you expect them to update as fast as Apple? Even if you count all iPhones that came out, there haven't been 30 iPhones yet.
Then Apple own the iOS, the Apple A chip, it's obviously easier to update again, Samsung doesn't own Android, it's Google then Samsung own Exynos but also have phones that use Snapdragon, not comparable at all.

The point is there is NOTHING hardware spacific that would prevent Samsung from rolling out One UI 2.0 to S8 or even S7 generation devices. They could even keep them on Pie or Nougat for that matter. Droid allows them that (it would be stupid to fork the releses but they could).

The proble is there is no will. And it is stupid because stuff like this is why iOS has brand loyalty and Samsung does not. People are sheep and thinking they have the lstest software counts in perception not in reality. That is why few common iOS users switch.Power users know best but those are few and only on the forums.

                          Sad.
Samsung S8 won't get Android 10, although it's hardware can handle it easiliy. Pixel 2has also SD 835 and runs Android 10 just fine.

suni08, 25 Sep 2019who cares how many phones they release, at the bare minimum... moreBy Ios 13, you mean the update that brang night mode (is on s8, came with OneUI) , swipe-keyboard (even J7 2015 had this already), advanced photo editing tool (contrast, shadows and highlights? Had most of them in OneUI already and if you find it lacking you can still use filters and Adobe), long press quick launch settings (really? Already left this in the dust alongside with the touchwiz we now have a better one: tap the name)?

suni08, 25 Sep 2019who cares how many phones they release, at the bare minimum... moreYou dont seem to know that Samsung has to push out updates for every single one of them 40+ units and has to polish out every single update to be fit for the phone. If anything, Apple had 20x the time Samsung has for updates

S9=8,9&10(Maybe), S10=9,10&11(Maybe), Lol.... S11=You do the Math. Make 1generation older model obsolete = SELL MORE device, if not how these company make money? need more suckers?!!

I wonder if this will add support for apt X Adaptive as it is said Samsung plans to use. I somehow doubt it will, or even if Adaptive is supported it will be in anything better than providing backward compatibility to apt X as that is all they support.

Anyone know if any Galaxy phones use the Qualcomm chip CSRA68100 required for apt X HD, or similar?

If anyone knows if Samsung uses the chip please respond

useless update from Google as usual ... already got dark mode on my S9 .. lol .. who needs these stupid update. Other than dark mode there is nothing too exciting in android 10 .. Meh !!!!
Only other good thing on stock android 10 update is the security updates from direct play store rather than OEMs .. but that is not something to die for.
But the major update I am expecting is from Samsung's version of android 10 which is One UI 2.0 ... Other than that I am not at all interested in google's stock android 10 boring updates

PartTimePhoner, 25 Sep 2019Yeaaaaah.... You mean the company named samsung that reveal... morewho cares how many phones they release, at the bare minimum the flagships should have better support
my S8 retailed at £700 and has been dropped after two years
