I havent seen a phone fitting so well in your hands. Small, catchy, performing, and most of all smart. I have my old moto x which needs a body replacenent only. I would love to buy it again. Plz bring it back.

Bring this back with up to date hardware, and it would sell like the iPhone SE 2020.

This had the best size, ergonomics, and weight (just 129 grams) of any smartphone ever.

Keep the old fashioned 3.5mm headphone jack and microUSB port. Make it look just like the old one. Just change the hardware inside.

That sale to Lenovo was a big mistake. Not only Lenovo ruined themselves, they literally took down moto with them.

As a moto X4 user i can honestly say Lenovo changed a lot in a Motorola phones.
There is maybe no turning back but i really hope they would and should improve them a bit.
Also would like to see a proper Motorola flagship.
Back in that time Razr were best phone to buy compared to other phones which offered half of much for twice the money.
My X4 is still in a brand new condition even after 2 years of use. Apart the battery of course. Its a great phone.

I had a Moto X Developer Edition. White Carbon Fibre finish on the back and black in front. Was a fantastic phone.

I was involved in the manufacture of the original X. I built the quality plans for the process that facilitated the customisation. Still have mine. Customised back cover with the pulsar image used on Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures album. Loved the phone & the idea of making it personal at point of order. Wish Lenovo would reboot the concept. On a G7 now, but still have the X on standby & it still works great. Was pretty ahead of its time & was the fist smartphone to be assembled in the USA (Fort Worth).

                            cool phone

OEMs should bring this back and allow users to atleast choose a custom paint job and laser engraving if not material

I am from India and i do remember this coming in 2013(my age being that time 25) and this being my dream phone. I was lucky to purchase Motorola Z2 Force in 2016 and was amazed with Clean Andoid Os. That was the day and till today using now Motorola One Vision (my primary phn) i am with Motorola. Yes today under Lenovo they make half chienese like phones but trust we guys in the department of OS they are ahead then Nokia also. Motorola are late at updates but come with many more features. Well Well this year Motorola releasing 6 mid rangers under One Series and none in premium or copy flagship category was the big mistake done. If any Motorola employee reading tnis article should realize that they have such a wonderful power of OS. Motorola One Vision is indeed a good mobile. If same mobile with SD 855, 6/8GB, Amoled Display if launched even at 20-30% higher then others will be hit as there OS experience till date is 100% better then Oxygen Os, One Ui, Nokia's Android One and even better then iphone os.

Now that's the customization level we need in today phones

One of my fav mobiles ever, due to design, materials, size and function. The SoC and small battery being its flaws and maybe other issues I yet do not know of. But a Moto X 2020 in the same size with 3000 - 3300 mAh battery would be awesome.

I have one of these in my phone collection, it's honestly a really nice device. Sadly it doesn't look super cool, it's just grey

This first generation of the Moto G and X were the most comfortable and ergonomic phones with their compact footprint and most durable with their plastic bodies. The X is proof that a 4.7 inch 16:9 screen in full screen mode with gesture navigation is all you need. And phones were so light. Today even the moon flagships are knocking on the door of 200gms. I hope this trend of ugly monstrosities with glass backs, mega screens, notches, holes, rounded corners, curved edges and unholdable, unpocketable form factors gives way to ergonomics and that the 'mobile' phone returns.
