HTC, what a bunch of losers you are!! QWERTY completely and utterly PWNS touch-only devices if done properly - it's your own fault for not doing it properly and making the Desire Z crap. I hope Sony keeps its eye on the ball and releasesthe ultimate successor to what I still believe to be the best device on the market - the Xperia Pro.

I just can't believe it, will there ever be ... moreThe Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro has been out in the UK for 7 months now but has been ignored by all mobile networks and highstreet phone shops in the UK (idiots!!!). It's a really excellent device, and IMO it's the best phone on the market bar none (better than other touch-only fashion devices which cost £600 which look better on paper but not in practice). The keyboard is just SO SO superior to any touch-only phone. Xperia Pro also has a nice compact size, excellent screen, camera and smooth UI too. How much does Xperia Pro cost? Well, it's on the market for around only £200!!!!

Its a misguided decision by htc to kill qwerty, it does no harm to make some cash on qwerty phones than not make cash @ all...I predict htc will review this decision when they see competing vendors seaze the qwerty market...

Swype is available to download for all Android phones and it is often faster than most qwerty keyboards... even if that wasn't an option there are other keyboard apps available on the Google play store.

Seroiusly? After using Windows Phone's on-screen keyboard I see no reason to add extra weight on a phone anymore.

Bad, bad news! I just can't believe it, will there ever be a slide out QWERTY in the UK? I wish motorola would use this chance to bring the droid out here as another user said.
A droid 4 with better screen and quad core would sell but why don't any companies think this to be the case? :(

See the future is touch screen phones and as for QWERTY phone just leave this problem to BB (BlackBerry) they will handle it ofcourse they are plenty of them so HTC your last qwerty phone will be HTC Chacha right !

hTC, I can't find myself a good smartphone after the Desire Z. Motorola has brought out a series of Hardware Qwerty phones but the Motoblur is not up to the level. It's a very unwise decision to cease your hardware qwerty products. Do a rethink cause I sincerely need an upgrade and it might be a switch from hTC, unfortunately.

HTC hav not published a phone with a hardware keyboard in years. THe Desire Z is several years old already. What do they think? If they don't produce such phones, it is clear that nobody buys any. I think there definitely is a market for such phones, and I think it is a big mistake that HTC is making.
By the way, where is the successor of the Nokia communicator/E7? Will there soon be only Blackberry phones left with a keyboard?
I will never ever buy any phone that has no HW keyboard. Many of my friends feel the same.

This makes me very sad! HTC makes the very best Androids, and I've always secretly wanted one with a physical keyboard. I haven't had a phone with a keyboard for over 3 years, and I gotta say... I miss it. If they could make a B.A. one with top-notch specs but just a minor trade-off in the size and screen, I would still buy it.
For the kind of trade-off of which I'm thinking, consider the difference between the HTC Sensation (which I own) and the MyTouch 4G Slide. The only significant drawback on the Slide's spec sheet is the smaller, lower-resolution screen. But now that I look back... I wish that I had waited the extra month to get it.

The market at present regards non touch forms of data input as unfashionable. This is regrettable as for text entry a keyboard can be efficient. It is commendable that Blackberry recognise this and like others will continue to produce qwerty devices. As for HTC whilst they certainly did make good keyboard mobiles their current touch screen devices are superb for multimedia oriented users.

Well, that sucks!
I had the i9000 when it appeared and sold it afterwards because it wasn't right for me. Now i have an HTC ChaCha, not the greatest but I was expecting an update to it - ChaCha2 or something. There aren't any Android phones with a good qwerty :(
