Windows Phone Marketplace reached 100,000 app submissions

05 June, 2012
The important milestone was achieved quicker than Google's Android, but slower than Apple's iOS.

thats good news.but the absence of open gl and native code support for app development makes it a pain in ass to port games and app to windowsphone hopefully wp8 will solve the problem also looking forward for qt5 for windowsphone.

and the best part is that all those apps work on Any wp device with a few exceptions in case of the 610 but that is much better than Android where due to the fragmentation in os as well as screen resolution many apps just don't work on devices like galaxy y, etc. or if they do then they are not really usable due to the lag.

Well, well, well boys and girls (all 2 of you who frequent this site). It looks like Windows Phone has unpacked its things, made a sandwich and started getting comfortable because it's here to stay. With Windows 8's impressive showing at Computex and the promising stuff coming out of E3, it looks like next year is going to be a good year to be a mobile industry spectator.

Nokia actually has good apps exclusive for the Lumias, the Likes of Creative Studio, Nokia Drive, Contacts Transfer, CNN, the new Nokia Trailers; they actually make the Lumias the more superior choice over other WP7 devices.

Probably this won't be enough to save Nokia, but still is nice to know Microsoft seems to be doing some effort in the mobile market. Still, the question on why would someone choose Windows against Android or iOS is unknown, to me... Hope their prices get better.

Microsoft are riding high right now, w8 tablets are impressive, the integration with Xbox via smartglass is quite good as well.. the last thing is wp8, and I think they won't disappoint there as well.

They are making a huge shift, and so will the consumers. We finally have a real "eco" system.

Good news for WP :) I am happy as a used to be WP user. I left WP because of current country list support. My country was not and is still not supported. I went back to Android as it's supported in most countries even in mine, when it comes to my country officially I will gladly go back using Windows Phones, for me it's just an amazing OS.

[deleted post]Oh, tell me how superior you are because you hate WP7. I've been using an Android phone for more than a year and I'm dying to try the Lumia 900. I hope it gets the WP8 upgrade as promised. A sweet looking OS. Fast, fluid, simple. I love it

It's good to get more competition for market, so welcome Microsoft.

Wow! 100.000 apps and, just like on the iPhone, not even a call filter. WP 7.5 is such a disappointment... Long live Symbian! Long live Android! And long live those 20EUR basic phones (Nokia and Samsung) that have an inbuilt call blocker.
