Democracy is at its lowest now in India.
Common man is at his weakest ever...
You can only understand that when you live in India... When you see protesting people pressurised and disappearing for mysterious reasons. When you see protesting leaders changing opinions overnight. When you see each decision take away your rights as a citizen like weakening of data rules, RTI, etc..

No doubt, a lot more than just our private data has been compromised.

Almost all fiber users offer Amazon Prime to increase their data usage and plan expenditure by user. For example, Airtel also offers Amazon prime in addition to Zee5 & Xstream.

After all, they would want users to upgrade to bigger plans, right?

Remembering the maxim, "There is no free lunch in life," wil take you a long way.

Ambani's Jio is one of the most invasive, unregulated, data mining TelCo in India right now. Their hardware is locked down, their privacy polices are shocking & eye opening and...there exists Zero political will in India from any political party to regulate the brazeness by which Reliance operates due to the obvious reasons.

This "free" offer worth some paltry 13 USD (or even 1000 INR, which is not some big stash of cash) will undoubtedly let Jio snoop through a LOT more data than it already does. And my money is on the fact that Reliance is trying to equalize or overthrow Amazon's e-retailing success in India via it's own Reliance Digital e-mart and Reconnect branded products. So it makes sense to give users free Amazon subs, data mine their Amazon usage and purchase statistics and then try to best that with a Reliance branded alternative. You know...like exactly how Amazon data mines it's users' habits of 3rd party sellers & products and then provides Amazon Basics alternatives to those items while undercutting them...
