That's a move Nokia should have thought of very long ago...but it's never too late to realize one's mistake...
wish I could work with Nokia...becaue of this serious competition out there in the Smartphone industry...They likewise need serious strategies to be implemented...
so they can get back to the their position of leadership...

Selling off Vertu is a good move for Nokia. Nokia should focus on cutting edge technologies in term of hardware and software. May be acquire Lytro for its light field technology for its camera.

I don't really think Vertu has a market as it has no real cache: the techno-savvy aren't bowled-over by it and the poseurs just want 'bling' and *nothing* else (and the latest iPhone in a fancy case gives them that) so no sale to either of those crowds
The seriously rich will either buy a good normal handset or they'll get one of those rubbish things which has a three year old spec but is covered in diamonds. Again no sale
Nokia has probably finally realised that phones *aren't* like Ferrari's...

I for one would love to see Vertu take Lumia 800 guts, pack it into a much slimmer metal case (titanium, perhaps?) with their signature saphhire glass touchscreen and semiprecious gemstone keys. THAT would be something worthy of the super-rich, not the ancient S40 or the sometimes-bewildering Symbian^3.

NOKIA BIGFAN, 14 Jun 2012nokia hardware + android + nokia diehard fans = formidable ... morecouldn't agree more.Just wish nokia would read these comments and realise there flogging a dead horse.I work in mobile retail and mark my words lumias are not selling even at the reduced price simply because the software is unattractive and boring to use.Most customers agree the right move was android and if nokia fans don't like the truth its tough.Nokia would of been unstoppable and still market leaders as they had the name well established and great quality.Now people associate them with a dying company struggling to produce a decent smartphone and in no way were the lumias good ,not in comparison to the likes of the N95.Such a shame and sad to see.Come on nokia make an android handset and at least try.Ill buy one as a spare and good will gestgure.

Vertu was actually a premium brand of Nokia. The company is now admitting that they aren't targeting the premium market, because they can't compete.

Nokia used to listen to consumer. Now, they don't. I still adore Nokia because Symbian make the best use of mobile processing and memory resources. However, Nokia would have done better if they had gone with Android rather than Windows. Windows is full of bugs and susceptible to viruses. We'll all see soon. I hope Nokia didn't tie itself down to Microsoft permanetly.
