Meego is a great os..jolla company please dont let us down...hey are u gonna create your own smartphone(i know it will be using meego os but what about hardware?) are u gonna do a partnership with other smartphone companies like sony , lg....or r u gonna release a phone with ur own name jolla...if u do partnership with other companies then please...please..,please...please choose sony . Not samsung or lg. They both make cheap fones that easily break... Cannot trust on these 2..nokia was my favourite due to super strong fones like nokia 3310. I still love them..but i love meego..and built quality of sony is also very gud..so if u can join with sony then it will be great. Even if u stay independent that will be great too...but build strong solid phones that dont break easily.(if u can make it tough like nokia 3310 then it will be awesome.) unlike those shit samsung or lg phones that can break any time...

This is NOKIA's secret plan for future software strategy because it already dropped its linux based meltemi os. Now nokia is executing its plan to handle Mobile Operating System related activities outside of its core business by supporting third parties like Jolla mobile.

There were contradictions between people at Nokia when it was to decide whether to go for meego or wp, and these last won. Meego supporters (former Nokia people) are now establishing Jolla on their own, they have no connection to Nokia, they believe on Meego and will dare try it in markets with these brand new name Jolla devices. Well, in my opinion this is exciting, i love such an idea!

No patents given or licensed by Nokia! Jolla has said " it will sell new MeeGo-based smartphones with Jolla technology including its own brand new UI."

Anonymous, 10 Jul 2012does Jolla make phone with nokia name or Jolla and then do ... moreNo, they are not Nokia branded, Jolla is independent company. But it may be Nokias plan B and then it would be secret Nokia. But as I understand, they will come with name Jolla. Quite bad choice for name, I think.

Behind the scene, Jolla is Nokia's subsidiary. If not so, why should they ever launch N9?

I've always said that in truth.. Meego is the only real rival to Android from a technical standpoint. It really does have a lot of untapped potential and I really would like to see Meego florish because in the end, its better for us consumers. More choice is always good and Meego is definitely more than viable seeing as smartphone users are slowly getting geekier by the minute. I just wish it was more of an open source solution. But I guess you can't have everything.

Wow, it is really impressive that they had announced they're making a smartphone this year. Plus, they have the passion for open source. One thing left to be unknown is how good will their UI be... I hope it is like swipe UI from n9 phones, otherwise, something like cloud air os thingy from nokia, I'd really love that and buy phones with it.

I really hope that Jolla makes this work and are able to stick two fingers up at nokia! I do use droid and don't see this OS coming close to it but the OS's need as much competition as possible to further evolve.

I bought N9 and it was the last left there. It is super cheap now if it is in sales somewhere. I had mine for 229 € two months ago. Have never regret, don't want even last high end quad core phones instead. Swipe UI is the ultimate best. Hopefully Jolla will come up with something equally great.
