Where is Epic games a monopoly? They don't have a monopoly as a game store, a game developer, game engine provider or BR game so care to explain how exactly Epic games are a monopoly?

Foxtrot2Novmbr, 11 Sep 2020So what makes you think that apple gets 80% of the app reve... moreNo where did I say 80% of revenue was going to Apple, just they hold 80% share of services / products sold. As per your other comment regarding Apple having a smaller user base, the issue is not with the device where Apple has a smaller market share, it is with the marketplace and payment provider services where Apple not only has the largest market share and compete directly with other developers on unfair footing. There are similar legal precedents against practices like this, just not directly applied to tech sector. Example: Movie theaters can not be owned by publishers, because if Universal or Disney owned theaters they could make the cost for competitors like Paramount so high that they could not do business while not having to pay that cost themselves. This is what is happening with AppleTV, Apple Music and Apple news.

i just lol'ed at Epic games. a monopoly company suing other company for monopoly.

Since apple is the one who creates the market in their environment. The developers have no option but to follow their rules. Other platforms may have alternate distribution and payment services because they have no restrictions. Apple on the other hand have restrictions because of their small number of ios users compared to android and other general computing platforms.

Foxtrot2Novmbr, 10 Sep 2020Are you sure that 80% of all profits goes to apple and not ... moreThe 79.4% is mobile app marketplace market share. Globally Apple sells around 13% - 15% of all mobile devices. However the IOS App Store makes up 74% - 80% of all app store revenue. So when 80% of the global app market is controlled by a single entity, it represents an anti-trust or anti competitive issue that no competitors are allowed to compete on the platform, or have access to alternate distribution and payment services as they do on all other general computing platforms.

If you publish a product on the Epic games store Epic takes 12% or 15% that includes the Unreal Engine royalty. Epic also offers it's online services, and material libraries and design products 100% royalty free regardless of the software you use it with or where you publish the product. Steam does take 30%, which Epic is trying to disrupt with their own game store, the same thing they are attempting to do on the other platforms but are being stonewalled by heavy handed marketplace incumbents.

What's next, blaming companies for being too good at sales and making sure they get worse at it? LMAO It's not Apple's fault that people on Android want everything free and just use ads ridden apps where on iOS, people mostly just pay for stuff that is then ads free.

Tess, 09 Sep 2020That's one of the points that Epic is trying to make.thats a poinrless point, if u rent or lease or acquire a shop space in a mall or an airport etc u have to pay the airport or mall their cut as fixed rentals or whatever term u agreed to. its like tax...maybe overpriced but not pointless.

For those trollin apple know that epic games has the exact same licensing terms and pricing on unreal engine, u can download and use it for free, but it will take a cut from your revenue forever when u publish ur product.and those trollin steam for same cut stuff, be informed that they deserve the cut because they provide services, steam databases, catalogs, publisher advertising, hosting, network tools and server hosting (some third party publisher games are stored in steams database and some use steam server and networking tools for online mp) steam workshop, modware etc. Epic fought pubg maker(battle royale tm) Mr Greene because he using epics unreal engine built a game (of course with team) with his battle royale idea, earned more than epic games itself and their fortnite was struggling. and more on it steam and uplay are only two legit launchers that give utility beyond just showing u what u have and what u can buy as in epic launcher, origin, rockstar, xbox these three are shit. steam enables mods whuch means u buy a game for 10 dollars complete the default content in 100 hrs and ur done(if u got it in epuc, xbox, origin, etc) but in steam for examole human fallflat u buy it complete the 20 given levels but have 3100 levels in the mod community(steamworkshop) to keep enjoying ur 10 dollars worth stuff for years to come.
