Because it's compact and portable - very cute, in other words. Aand your TV is big, ugly and useless. It's 21 century now - there is no place for meaningless things like television.

Anonymous, 16 Sep 2020Been used Sony phones for a while before switching to the i... morenice... here in the philippines too... thankfully, there are online platforms linked to overseas stores... waiting for my imported xperia 1 ii from hongkong... accdg to the seller there are 15 units sold ahead of me...
another good thing is, the gray market is starting to offer preorders - ideal for those who wants store warranty, afraid to import and those who prefers physical store...
that is what i told some people - to buy what they want instead of just bashing a phone they wish they could get at a cheap price...
so far, xperia is a "better" slab than most phones... having undisturbed excellent display with 21:9 ar which is a content standard...
but if i have money to spare i would try some other form factors - like to flip camera design of asus, fold of samsung, and what amazed me lately was the lg wing (almost angels wings) ha ha... the gimbal mode is awesome...

Been used Sony phones for a while before switching to the iPhone, then now with Pocophone F1 because Sony just simply didn't sell their products in my country anymore. It looks like I'm going to buy this one, although it means that I have to import it. After using the iPhone and Pocophone F1, I think that my experience with Sony is still irreplaceable.
And I do not really care about others think. I respected their choice to choose Sony or other products. It is a matter of personal preference, though. And I buy what I want with my own money, anyway 😅

Even LG couldn't come close despite having manual control for the video.

Great phone. I prefer these minimal besels rather than those horrible notches and punch hole. Hopefully price won't go skyrocket.

I do love Sony phones, and always using it. But can't hide the fact that it's performance is not so great as advertised , they always hiding it with their minimalist look and integrated professional look interface. hope the software implementation justify the hardwares they are using coz most of their competitors that use their modules produces much superior devices especially on camera compared to them. But still, will definitely wait got this 5 II.

Looks like 1ii will earn with android 11 the option to set 1080@120Hz and 240Hz motion blur reduction that comes with 5ii ...

There is a chance they announce 10 Plus ii, because they were working on it months ago, before pandemic got worse.
Rumor that say they may announce development of a hybrid between 1ii and Rx100 series, with sensor larger than 1".

They will only be sa... moreFunny how people used to be so critic when notches came out, but are perfectly fine when Samsung makes punch holes, which is merely the same thing, just smaller, but still a distraction to the full display.
Exactly where the double standards really come into play.
And yes, I do hate Sony for having one on the Xperia L6. Hope they won't continue that down the road, and stick to their original but classic and very functional & practical design. We don't care about the bezels, for at least we don't have to worry about having a stupid camera cutout interfering when watching a video in full screen.

It's their despair of their disappointment for the underwhelming SoC, battery, and camera performance of their Galaxy Ultra and the super hideous, feature-less iPhone Pro Max, so they just find faults on an otherwise complete package as the Xperia 1 II.
