The OnePlus 8T will be taller, wider than the OnePlus 8 despite having the same screen size

01 October 2020
Part of that can be explained by the larger battery, it will match the 8 Pro in capacity but exceed it in charging speed.

I bet you definitely this device foot print will be equivalent to oneplus 7t or lesser that.
if the display size is 6.55

Phone makers need to learn from car makers: provide different models, and in different sizes.

The s10e was probably the last compact flagship. A shame they didn't have a follow up this year

I'm not a fruit-sheep but agree with Steve Jobs critics that big phones are not comfortable to operate.

This prolong extra-wide smartphone aspect ratio trend looks gonna escalate risk of uncomforting moment in using that phones, eg. put the phone in clothing/vehicle pockets, using one-handed (One UI and OxygenOS 11 still can't fully make-up the uncomfortness). Even the balky Sony Mobile management finally went to the centre of the club with the radical 21:9 screen, so when you easily move your finger to the farthest left edge, you still struggling to swipe the navigation bar (look at that "compact" Xperia 5 ii w/ 158mm tall!).

To minimise the quality divergency in watching video content (tablets, PCs, TVs), pleaseeee to all the awfully-looking "geeky" extra-wide video creators, come back to the standard television ratio but then use the 21:9 shoot-and-protect strategy in the top and bottom of the content (like some GSMArena videos, put the specs caption near the centre left so the extra-wide phone viewers can just pinch-to-zoom without cropping the caption, or some other YouTubers that use ultrawide lens 16:9 to make-up this pinch-to-zoom issue).

Tired of all these phones getting wider, taller and heavier. That's why I'll be getting a Pixel 5. The last compact phone with a (theoretically) decent battery life.

Than that bigger size would be more than welcome.

The 65W charging is achieved by dual-cell batteries which is why the phone is larger to accommodate for that.

Especially videos with black bars on the TOP and BOTTOM of the video, which you can pinch to zoom and fill the phone screen.

My biggest gripe is the phone getting taller. This is getting dangerously close to the top of my pockets. I would prefer a phone under 155mm tall, but have settled for 161mm on the 7T. Nearly 2mm taller on the 8T isn't much of a change, but it's still taller and I don't like that!

ofc la it doesnt have a curved screen

So it'll be larger and thicker and they still claim that they won't include wireless charging so they can keep the thin, sleek design? I understand wanting to keep that as a premium feature but beating around the bush like this is typical OnePlus malarkey. Just be upfront about it.

While people keep on asking to return to 16x9 (maybe 16.5x9 to accommodate the bars at the top and bottom) these alternatively gifted phone designers go in the opposite direction.
