Like in gaming on PC, games running at 1440p, downscaled on to a 1080p screen look better than games running at 1080p on 1080p screen.

As for all I know Samsung, Panasonic and LG don't run android. In fact I only know Sony does and the UI experience is the worst.

Where are the people who say apps are optimized on iOS?
Didn't realize so many people are still falling for the "optimised OS" marketing.
Social Media apps on iOS are leading the crash report charts.
YouTube is a pretty widely used app as well which didn't offer highest resolution in the past.

(in case you are not aware is amongst the best tvs out there). Literally everyone and online and in person said Apple TV is the best way. Even if it has the apple TV+ app installed.

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2020Why I can play 4k video on my Samsung TV ?(YouTube)Samsung already has the support for the android phones and use the same CPU architecture. So why not? Also a TV is a place where u are expected to watch youtube.
Now for apple to develop a chip that can specifically decode a codec only used by one app for 4K makes no sense. It's not just apple.
Nvidia and AMD don't support it either so you are using your CPU to watch it and if u have any intel skylake or earlier it doesn't support it either.
Neither does Internet explorer (regardless of why u'd want to use it).
Netflix at some point used VP9 but also streamed at HVEC for devices that don't support it which is not just apple even some Samsung devices don't support it (the option is there but video playback is poor. Galaxy s7, tab s4 etc).
Just google "android youtube 4k hdr not working" and you will be surprised by how many devices can't play 4K or HDR.
So Google here is pulling an Apple and using an inferior and proprietary format.
