It will do 8K but no smooth 8K, perhaps. However it would be good for 4K TV as the previous one not that powerful. In turn Xiaomi may release it for international with different code name.

I've had a MiBox 3 for a few years and it works pretty much flawlessly - or it did until the recent Android 9 update. Since then I am getting occasional WiFi disconnections that never happened before, but overall, while plugged into my 10 year old 32" Full HD LG TV that sits in my bedroom, it has given it a new lease on life.

If you have a newer smart Android TV like I have in my living room, there isn't much point in getting one though I think.

Other than that, considering the price, I can say that I have bought very few things that offered such great value for money.

Yujikon, 06 Nov 20202 GB Ram? Is this a joke? It's ok for 4k 60 fps videos
Youtube, Netflix, playing videos form my Synology Nas
I have the MiBox S and it's fine

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2020The 4 sells for very little here and I've been tempted... moreIf you live in a country where you can retoure easily, I guess it is worth to try it. I initially had same concern but I live in Germany where I could easily return it if I'm not satisfied. I ended up keeping it because it works well.

I use android ecosystem and therefore apple TV is out of question. Nvidia shield has better hardware but costs 3-4 times (and depends on your location, probably hard to obtain). Fire TV stick is good and price similarly but I prefer play store access without the need of sideloading.

Anonymous, 06 Nov 2020Nice, I wish they made it slightly smaller and more compact... moreGo with mi tv stick then...

Yujikon, 06 Nov 20202 GB Ram? Is this a joke?Android TV doesn't need to have a lot of RAM as it only needs to do just one job, which is accessing video streaming apps on TV.

What you should really care about instead is the storage since some video streaming apps allow video download.

Yujikon, 06 Nov 20202 GB Ram? Is this a joke?Nope... You don't need much ram on tv box since you won't use it much for multitasking. 2 gb is already enough for tv box. I have mi box 4s and it has no problem whatsoever. Even the standard version of nvidia shield TV (regarded as one of the best android tv available atm) has "only" 2 gb ram...

I have an Indian version that I have been using well for over 6 months now, and there have been no issues at all. It works absolutely perfectly, apart from 2-3 random restarts in my whole time of owning it.

The 4 sells for very little here and I've been tempted to try it,. But it gets the worst reviews compared to Apple and Nvidia, and even Amazon, so I haven't given it a chance.

I have two Xiaomi MiBoxes at home, the normal one and the "S". Both of them fail sometimes. Either the video is blocked in Youtube or crash. Or the screen goes green and I have to restart. It is a good product but with failures that do not solve. Better to solve old products to try sell new ones.
